Hakone Turnpike is a 15,752 km.It is a private highway owned and operated by Hakone Turnpike Co., Ltd. (HTPL), a Central Nippon Expressway (NEXCO Central Japan) group company.
A tolled mountain road with an elevation difference of about 1000 meters (m) from Hayakawa, Odawara City, which overlooks Sagami Bay in western Kanagawa Prefecture, to Taikanyama and the Yugawara Pass, which it is located in the southeast part.
Since this road is a highway stipulated by the Road Transport Law, the Highway Circulation Law is applied. Cars and motorcycles are allowed to pass, but motorcycles of 125 cc or less (Moped Type 1 and Moped Type 2), light vehicles, minicars, and pedestrians are prohibited.

The curve has a smooth minimum radius of 100 m and the slope is relatively gentle. For this reason, there are notices that encourage the use of engine braking, and sand dunes (emergency shelters) to crash and brake in an emergency.
There are many viewing platforms along the line, where you can see Sagami Bay, Hatsushima and Izu Oshima , and the installation "Daikanzan Sky Lounge" (Taikanzan drive-in) overlooks Lake Ashinoko and the Mount Fuji .
Since it is a private road, it is possible to rent the entire line and, in addition to being used for commercial filming, new car test drive events are often held prior to official announcements. In the past, the operating hours of the Hakone-Odawara Main Line and Hakone-Izu Line were different, but now all lines are open from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. (latest entry time is 10:00 p.m. 00).At night outside business hours, the entire line is completely blocked and impassable.

On August 29, 2017: Due to the expiration of the contract period with Mazda, the name of the road will be "Hakone Turnpike" and the name of the facility will be "Daikanzan Sky Lounge"


On February 2, 2018 Anest Iwata acquires the naming rights and from March 1 of the same year the name of the road will be "Anest Iwata Turnpike Hakone"
