Being laid off / retrenched twice in your late 50s is something that is hard to restart. No one wants to give you a job. In fact apart from a few small companies also owned by older people, I have almost zero chance of getting a job. I've decided to abandon what I have experience in... 35+ years as a programmer and try and follow other creative adventures. So far, it's all fun and interesting to a limited degree, but no income is coming in, so the stress of my future is always eating at my conscious. To be honest, people don't care for my opinion or advice because you're old and you are seen as someone who should just keep quiet and retire. That's easy if your loaded with money. I'm not.
Losing your job the same week that Covid restrictions started was hard. More than hard, I mean impossible to get a job. That's for a person like me in their 60's.
I'm getting to the point financially where If I make a slip-up it's quite possible I'll end up homeless permanently.
I have a lot of things to say, but I don't know who wants to listen and on what topic. Please let me know!

I’m like laid-laid off so no hope for me ever getting back on the work market. They would not want me and i’m not so sure i want them anymore neither. The work i did, much like the channel owner, around 30 jobs with several years with the employments i endured the best

You are bringing awareness to this topic. Unfortunately, many young people think they can work till retirement age when, in actuality, that doesn't always happen. Either health gives out, or you get Age blocked. People need to realise this and plan accordingly.

What job sectors are more friendly to Seniors looking for a mid career switch? In Singapore Health and Care ( for the Aging) seem to be more open to hiring older workers. Some in their 40s go into Nursing or get trained as Paramedics. Those a bit older( 50s) seem to be in demand in Nursing / Care homes as youngsters arent interested or lack the patience. Other sectors would be in the food preparation and Cleaning. Perhaps you could look into this topic.

Something else I tried - security guard. Training was 65 hours to get a licence. But like with any low-skill job there are hundreds or thousands of applications for every opening. And are they going to hire someone in his 50s when they have loads of candidates in their 20s? Of course they won’t.
In 4 years despite putting in probably close to 100 applications, I was never able to get a job. All I could ever do is work at a few sporting events at a stadium. These don’t pay much because they only last 3-4 hours. Probably did 7-8 of these over the past 4 years.
I’m 44 and this is already happening to me….for years now…I have 571 videos about this kind of stuff…
