Doing an audio test with vocal auto-tuned, fully synthetic tracks is a joke.

I really, really like this concept! If I would get to choose, this is the way all speaker comparisons should be done.

As a professional producer and mix engineer, A was the most professional and accurate sound.

Sorry my man, if i have a home studio, im not dropping $2k on a pair of nuemann 120a's. But the focals were the best of the group. They were clear and the low end had no distortion when reaching the tip. And this is exactly why masters are outsourced, bc of production bias.

The fact that you mixed the song in the same room and each set of monitors gave different results shows that what studio monitors you use does matter.

C E D, but it is all so subjective, all are fine. MM 500 into a RME interface. I tend to prefer a bit more brightness and openness of the stage and often pay more attention to instruments than vocals (classical symphonic music being a favorite for example).

I think a better measure of monitor quality is how close it is to what you want it to be than what someone else likes. But than again that often has more to do with familiarity and experience with specific monitors than their inherent quality, I guess?

A and C are definitely better than other mix. C is arguably more balanced but A is more fun to listen to.

C for me: most balanced and transparent.

Focals come out dead. I like the Neumanns - but i have them! Adams OK to my surprise... I dislike small Genelecs especially with the rear port.

I like the genelec, adam and neumann but not the others. I like the neumann best for me.

genelecs worked with em long time and decided to upgrade my hometheater also with genelecs and ooh so clear but yeah you will surely need subwoofer for me svs sub was perfect company with hometheater and pc i have 8020c +f 1 sub from genelecs

A and C - they sound pretty similar, smooth, no boxy, balanced highs. I own a pair of Adams, but they have too much highs and therefore the mixes come out a little muddy, I want to replace them with Genelec

Just a music lover, preferred C, then A, B, E and then D. Strange as I have Focal Electra speakers for home living room use.

bought the A7V (mix B-ish the ASX being the previous model) and ooof I have a steep learning curve ahead of me :/ they sound strange, extreme 3d positioning in acoustic recordings be it rock metal or orchestra you can point who was were in the room, you say your synth bass top end got lost that's my current problem it sounds like some patterns on electronic music sounds come from behind the wall almost like from a different sound source...really weird never experienced that I'm sure you can tweak it but I must say if you are looking for plug and play sound you might want to look at cheaper easier to understand monitors I would recommend KRK (what I had before) but they have major quality issues so no, another thing don't let the size fool you A7V are crazy powerful I had to turn volume way down and even use -20dB on the pre-amp >< you might want to buy the "tiny" A4V and place them on stands unless you have an actual recording studio

Which are better for guitar? The iloud mtm or genelc 8020?

now thats a smart way to do it :D we all have our own listening system me headphones I had for 10y now so I know how they sound vs my current monitors and a blind test mix will tell me more than a bad mic recording, I was between A and B, D sounded frankly atrocious ultra harsh I'm used to vinyl sound and I really don't like modern mixes that sound like they forgot mids and lows exist edit : ah ! not surprised by the focals I had Focal car speakers and subwoofer and to be honest I always tought they sounded "aggressive" it's funny that it made for a harsh mix too I would have tought you'd have mixed softer to compensate but no

B is the best, C is my second choice

I liked the 8030...I was listening on 8010As...I also have the A7V, successor to the A7X, which I am uncertain why you chose those since they're not available anymore...they're discontinued. Anyway, i don't really like my Adam...too "pretty"...LOL. I might get those 8030s though.

A and C sounded the best to me and also very similar

A & E the others sound harsh ... the objective of mixing is to have a mix that people want to listen to. BCD are too neutral.

B is the best to me, i picked B, but i am listenig trough adams. Very interesting comparison, its a pity, that you cant mix the mix every time like if it was the first time.

How anyone can pick D is beyond me. Sounded totally off both on my Neumann 120s and on my Dan Clark headphones.

On first listen, C and D were obviously worst. I think I preferred B slightly over A and E was much better than C or D. I was pretty sure A or B was Genelec. I have three Genelec 8030 combined with DSpeaker Anti-Mode 8033 corrected 8" subwoofer for our TV set with an AV receiver handling crossover so I'm very familiar with the sound. And I definitely think that you should have DSP corrected sub if you intend to mix any audio with low bass.
