Another Japanese Kanji video is here!
In this video, I’m showing you how the three Kanji (明/岩/劣) consist of each part. Japanese Kanji are sometimes made of some basic Kanji and the ones I’m talking about in this video are one of those examples!
The first one, 明るい (akarui) means “bright” and it consists of two parts.
The left one is 日 (hi) which means “sun”. It’s bright and we can’t (are not supposed to) keep watching it for a long time.
The one on the right is 月 (tsuki) which means “moon”. Although it’s not the light source, it looks bright and it lights up in the night.
Anyways, by putting two Kanji side by side and it’s 明るい (akarui) which means “bright” in Japanese. I think it’s easy to remember this Kanji!
How about 岩 (iwa) which means “rock”? The one on the top is one of the easiest Kanji, 山 (yama) which means “mountain”.
The one below is 石 (ishi) which is “stone”.
You put them together again, and it’s 岩 (iwa) which is “rock”. As I showed in this video, the image of 岩 (iwa) is bigger and more rough but there is no definition for that!
The last one should be a little advanced, but 劣る (otoru) is also one of them!
少ない (sukunai) means little and it’s commonly used when something is not much.
力 (chikara) means “power”, which I talked about in my previous video!
Those Kanji are the parts of 劣 and it means “inferior”. There is just a little power there so 劣 means “inferior”. It makes sense, right?
Those Kanji consisting of two Kanji are called 会意文字 (kaiimoji) and it’s very common for Japanese Kanji. It should be easy to remember so it’s great to learn from those Kanji!
Anyway, thank you so much for reading this description until here!
If you haven’t followed me, please consider it. Also, I have my own YouTube channel so please check it out too! The link is in bio!
