I live in Vietnam, and I can tell you VinFast is very big here. Huge. However here they are cheap. And small.

Not sure why VinFast is selling big cars in the west.

IMO they should also sell small cars there.

The company however is very, very established in Vietnam.

Basically it sells most of the cars here. (Most here still ride motorcycles)

Big, big company here. The cars are everywhere.

Vinfast EVs particularly the mid-size SUV VF8 and full-size SUV VF9, are nowadays not new. Vinfast has first launched both of the models since January 2021 in Vietnam, and the VF8 in the US since December 2022. In general, both of the VF8 and VF9 have been on the EV market for over 3 years. However, the latest VF9 model was just officially released this month September 2024 in America. Slowly but solidly, Vinfast has been an established brand in America. How do I know? I have been driving a VF8 Plus for over 8 months, without any serious problems. The EV has been as reliable as expected, safely getting me from point A to point B without breaking my bank. I have test driven the latest VF9 model, and driving the EV was absolutely a joy. It was even smoother and better than my VF8! Did you know Vinfast has been the one and only EV maker in the world that offers the longest warranty? All VF8 and VF9 models come with a warranty including 10 year/120,000 mile bumper-to-bumper coverage. Worry about EV batteries? Nah, you don't have to. Vinfast VF8 and VF9 batteries have a warranty of 1 million miles or 10 years, whichever comes first. When first test driving a Vinfast in September 2022, even Sandy Munro, a renowned American automotive specialist said, "At the end of the day people would be happy with what VF8 offered." He added, The VF8 [is] as very stable, with the driving dynamics similar to that of a BMW. And Vinfast EVs particularly VF8 and VF9 have stood the test of time after over 3 years on the EV market!

What boggles the mind is that the US approved Vinfast for $1.2B of subsidies for a company that makes 30-40K cars a year. Think of how much of a subsidy that is on a per car basis. And that's not even including the $7500 EV trax credit that the US also provides.

Vinfast cancelled its enter Thailand. I think it fears Chinese EVs too much.
In Thailand, a country that is not China but has too many Chinese EV choices, Vinfast should be sellable because it is not Chinese product, but it doesn't start selling at all.

There are reports that VF parts are mostly from China. VF just does the assembly. The major "sale" of VF in Vietnam is to the taxi company belonging to VF owner. In Vietnam, the complaints are rare as VF used to get the police to solve complaints. VF suffers loss year after year after year; Although the parent company Vingroup has deep pocket but their debts are now overwhelming.... Competitions in the EV market are getting tougher with Tesla, BYD, Volswagen, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia,.... all of which got even deeper pockets.... Where would the funds coming from for those factories to be built in Indonesia, India, US.... With questionable and unproven quality, VF will need huge magical spell to avoid bankruptcy. Patriotism in commerce does not work, quality proven products does.

Let's be honest! Even Australia cannot make any EVs and doesn't have any EV maker of its own. Also, the population of Australia is about 25 million, which is not a great market for any car or EV makers. It's easier said than done. Why didn't you try to make your own EVs instead of sitting there badmouthing other EV makers like Vinfast? Remember Vietnam is the one and only country in ASEAN that can make EVs and export them to the US.

Sammy for a guy who does a lot of research, you again fall short. Mentioned by others, the price, US manufacturing location, and financial status
You obviously have a hatred of Vinfast as a few of your mates at the BMX club got laid off when their australia engineering operation was shunted in the pandemic.
They still own Lang Lang Proving Ground.
There were 80 Vinfast Engineers in Australia, not 200 to 300. They paid about $30M AUD for Lang Lang, not hundreds of millions.
They are backed by Vingroup and the richest guy in Vietnam with over $5B USD who is all in on Vinfast. Way more money than Fisker. They have a highly automated factory in Vietnam.
Unlike Fisker.
There have 7 EV models from sub A to E class. And 100% EV
Ttey are currently producing about 600 cars a day and will open plants in Indondsia snd India in 2025.
Back to VF9 yes there some short comings with it. It is very heavy at over 2900kg, this why is it slow in acceleration and lower in range.
The car and batrery also have a 10 year warranty in USA...

Unlike this guy or many on here, i live in Texas. Own a custom shop that built mainly diesel trucks, suv, and chassis swap to one's taste. I bought (not lease a Vf8 plus) as it have history as the first year model sold here in the US. I fully understand and expected launch model issues, so far it gave me a few issues that i quickly pointed yo 12v battery, spent $400 replaced with a lithium 12v and no problem in the last 6 weeks and 5000 miles. It did everything it claimed to do. There are more features that ones can only experience if you actually own the vehicle and truly go through all the features. If the 2012 Tesla were 80% out of 100% as they are in now, the vf8 is 90% out of 100% of the current model Y, while fit and finish are better than the model y except i hate the bare plastic inside door pulls. The ADAS is only second to Tesla. For a brand new company who invested a massive amount of money and made this progress is unheard of and they are being sold here in North America. Name one company have achieved such???? While there are many improvements needed mainly software and few hardware such as suspension and a few interiors that were overlooked. This is a solid 7 out of 10 in my book. Glad I'm experiencing this stage of this company, for all the haters i will see you in my Vinfast when i am not busy built custom toys!!!!

vf9 is only 200kg less than cybertruck, not MUCH lighter as you said. People can also achieve higher ranges than the claimed number.
I don't know why you bother making a video focused on keeping people away from a new brand without even having a look yourself. Of course, they are young and they will not aim at huge sales at this point. Everyone understands their situation but you are the most salty I've seen lol.

Vf has some early negatives but it's much better now. Tesla has more negatives than any other but people want one to match their friends but vf is better if you compare.

In the USA, the riskiest EV would be the Toyota Mirai, a Fuel Cell EV that requires hydrogen "fuel", with almost no refuel stations outside of California, and decreasing availability within California. Toyota made a poor bet on a technology that you can't refuel like a gas car, nor charge at home. The cars are pure liability.

VinFast is like buying a 1st gen Hyundai Pony, a new brand who clearly can't produce to Western performance, quality, and reliability standards. The aren't competitive against Korea, much less China, so they need to be incredibly cheap. They might survive in the US because only Korea is committed to selling affordable passenger EVs in the US market. Rest of the world, against BYD? Dead in the water.
