The ability to say: “creatively it was the happiest time of my life” is something you can’t put a price on. As fans, we got to enjoy the laughs.
ОтветитьRS = Genius
Ответитьabsolute legend
ОтветитьDamn you Neal for saying “Doooole”. I had to look those up again and now I’ll be saying it for a week straight. Smigel is hilarious.
ОтветитьOne of, if not the best episode you’ve done. Always really liked Smigel but have a whole new appreciation for him as a person. Loved this.
ОтветитьToo short. Just rename the podcast to “Poops” and have it be just you and Smigel
ОтветитьYou gotta love this guy. So much joy and humor in one human.
ОтветитьI think about joggin' bob dole every election cycle
ОтветитьAbsolutely beautiful
ОтветитьNow I know why I've had an affinity to Smigel's material; the dude is a real human being. Please have him on more. Wow I loved this episode. More!!! More people like Smigel.
ОтветитьRobert Smigel is an international treasure, protect that man at all costs.
ОтветитьSince you ask, Triumph....
If I could get it up, I would lean on it! 😁
Watching this guy speak with so much genuine humanity and good humor makes me really appreciate how great Bert Kreischer is...for me to poop on!
ОтветитьSmigel is one of the funniest people ever to do it. Awesome he got into such high profile gigs, given how gleefully subversive his work is. His snl material, particularly Saturday TV Funhouse, was revelatory for me in the late 90’s. I was always blown away by the hilarity/audacity (Jokamel, Conspiracy Theory Rock, Fun with Real Audio, etc). Was also watching Space Ghost Coast 2 Coast at the time, but I feel like Smigel’s cartoons kinda presaged a lot of the later adult swim stuff. Also Wonder Showzen abit.
ОтветитьLaurie Metcalf played the role of Lori Jo Hoekstra.
ОтветитьWell, I've never even heard of anyone else who had problems with the concept of competition before. I have always hated it. To me it's counterintuitive to evolved human nature. Maybe primitive human works just fine with it but not ultimately where it should go.
ОтветитьI always understood 'who' Smigel was. His genius was always apparent. But for some reason, he always came across as arrogant in the interviews he did.
I was grossly mistaken. I did not see the humility and grace. I've been a fan since 1993, and at age 47, I have finally fallen in love with Robert Smigel. Thanks Neal Brennan.
I learn something valuable every single episode of this podcast. Thank you
ОтветитьTyrant vs Chipple
Brennan vs Fey
One of the best Blocks so far along with Judd Appatow. Legends of comedy but genuinely wonderful guys
ОтветитьThat triumph intro was so good
ОтветитьTriumph triumphs with his first joke!
ОтветитьSmigels father is the Beatles of cosmetic dentistry. No joke. Oppenheimer of cosmetic dentistry. Dude changed so many smiles and mouths.
ОтветитьStar Trek sketch from snl was 1986 not 1988
ОтветитьConan O’Brien is my favorite. So much of why I love Conan is because of Smigel. And Andy.
ОтветитьFOR YOU TO POOP ON
ОтветитьTV Funhouse was the best. I always loved the mouth cut out bits on Conan, too. Didn't know that was him. He sounds like one of the healthiest people you have had on your show.
ОтветитьWow, Robert has a beautiful soul ❤
ОтветитьThe podcast has morphed into something far too edited, overproduced and visually-slick. Not a fan.
ОтветитьWait, Chris Rock stole staff from the original Conan show?
ОтветитьWow, really great episode. Don’t know what to expect going in but this was just lovely. Very glad I watched.👍🏽
Ответитьgreat one
ОтветитьWhen Smigel took triumph to make fun of the people at the Star wars premiere, did he know that a lot of those people may be autistic?
ОтветитьDA BEARS!!
ОтветитьRobert Smigel had a hand in everything I loved when I was growing up and now I feel so lucky my children get to experience his genuinely hilarious children’s movies. Kids need great writers too thank you so much! Many a night my sanity was preserved by a great family movie night with hotel Transylvania.
ОтветитьIt was a Laurie in the picture who worked with norm, it was just Laurie Metcalf. Felt like mentioning this for posterity. Great interview as always!
ОтветитьTyneisha Mazyck
Ответитьi've always wanted to know more about smigel! so glad you had him on!
ОтветитьI'm still mad the Comedy Central TV Funhouse didn't take off, that was amazing.
ОтветитьRobert Smigel is one of the GOATs. Horns up!
ОтветитьFucking love Smigel, thank you for having him on, never knew that about his son
ОтветитьI’ve liked a lot of these podcasts, I’m going to keep watching!
ОтветитьJack handy is one of those writers whose jokes not only really spoke to me as a child but still hold up today as an adult - very rare in the joke writing world
ОтветитьNot only is Smigel a great comic writer and performer…he’s an amazing human being. In the back half of this interview he talks about balancing his professional ambition with his love for his family. The way he talks about loving his kids and wife so deeply is very touching.
Ответитьwhy is there so much cutting? maybe the guests aren't always on point or boring? hrm
ОтветитьTriumph was featured in yesterday's NYT Connections puzzle
ОтветитьThe sight gag of Smigel talking to a wet cat gets old about 45 minutes in.
ОтветитьCluckin chicken might be the best snl skit ever.
ОтветитьYes this bit is undefeated haha the only prop comic that can get the best of them😂
Ответить
