The fun part that people don't realize is that even if manufacturing companies moved their factories to the US, the price they'd have to pay the workers would be a lot higher than in countries like Taiwan or China.

Which would result in products being a lot more expensive.

No matter how they try to spin it, all outcomes would hurt the american consumer.

Canada is already gouging the American taxpayer with hundreds of billions in tariffs. Without the US manufacturers in Canada and Canada’s high tariffs.. Canada would collapse financially.

My question is this. Why is it a problem when everyone else has huge Tarrifs on the US but we don't have them on them. Besides, the tarrifs have been something everyone has been talking about since at least the 90s. But nobody did it cuz they knew if would hurt the economy in the short term. So, Yes it's gonna be rough for a bit.

But unless someone has a better idea of how to make things work better than this is all a moot point. Most of the arguments I've seen here boil down to "The tarrifs are a bad idea cuz it's Trump" at least he's trying something different and keeping his word. He said he was gonna do all this and he clearly meant it. That is something people haven't gotten in bare minimum decades.

And we clearly can't keep going with what were have been doing, cuz it's explicitly clear what's gonna happen. If nothing changes, The country is gonna bankrupt itself in a few years, out cities which used to be gorgeous and industrious are now cesspools and disgusting. Not to mention crime ridden. Chicago, NYC, LA San Francisco, and way more. And if we want a snapshot of where we would be in a few years. Look at Europe. Freedoms restricted, people terrified of everything, the "health care" that they have is notoriously horrible, despite it being free. Their taxes are astronomical. They have people deciding to become homeless because that is the financially best option for them. Clearly what we have been doing isn't working. So most people have come to the conclusion that things must change.

So for the time being, Im still siding with Trump. So far he hasn't let me down. If things dont work out. Then oh well. We were screwed anyway.

Yes every product u can think of can in fact be produced in America that's what gives us so much power a lot of people have forgotten this from poor education that's all. we have the best realistate on the planet with every type of growing climate zones earth has to offer, every precious mineral including oil as well we have it all we dont need anyone else

Canada imports far, far more of their goods from the US than the US does from Canada, they literally cannot outlast america in a trade war even without getting into the disparity in size of our economies

You’ll lose the free healthcare because it’s going to be privatized. But your free healthcare is not good anyway since you come to USA for specialized treatment. America starts manufacturing our own good. The world loses. They know it. President Trump needs to restart the 130 oil refineries that are shut down. That will lower prices. Creat jobs and help the economy. The world loses. They depend on Americas buying power. Billionaires around the world lose.

Well, if American tariffs are so bad, and if it hurts the US taxpayers, wouldn’t putting tariffs on American goods be bad for Canadian consumers?

Let’s see, the Canadian argument is that tariffs will damage US consumers, and so they will retaliate with tariffs, which, by the same logic, will damage Canadian consumers. Amazing!

Even the stuff that CAN be manufactured in the US but currently isn’t, won’t be able to be produced here for YEARS. Factories aren’t built and staffed overnight.

Soooo who is going to build the factories and pay someone $15-20 an hour to work, to produce products that cost 5-10 times as much??? The answer is no one.
