I guess the only downside would be the need for a phone signal or having to download maps in advance.
ОтветитьNot being able to operate the screen with gloves on could actually be a safety feature, bad enough trying to change routes with 4wheels on the ground never mind while your mid ride with 2wheels on the go. It only takes minutes to pull over and do it safely but that’s just my opinion.
ОтветитьAs a negative it quickly drains your phone battery, you have to think how to charge it on a go, you have to mount phone somewhere and it gets hot. After using similar unit for some time it doesn't look so nice solution anymore, it neads improvement. But it's just my personal opinion.
Nice to see you on a proper bike again ;)
I cannot understand what the problem is with Garmin X1 or x2? Garmin have been the world leaders in navigation for donkies years and it's gps, so always in range. I'm just saying, as a lot of people are looking at alternatives and i'm not sure why?
ОтветитьWon’t work with leather gloves , you need screen sensitive gloves .
ОтветитьI think that if I had a Bonny, I would go with a Beeline, which is pretty much what the Triumph Connectivity is on my Trident and would be on your son's Tiger 660.
ОтветитьHaving the ability to navigate when no phone signal is surely a must! I once watched a bloke on a BMW trying to get across the Sahara desert but got lost as he didn’t have a signal for his phone, oh, wait a minute………. 😬
ОтветитьLooks like an old Garmin
I use the BMW Conected ride Navigator which I have Maps downloaded into its brilliant
Do you gloves have touch screen pads on the finger / thumb
Not something I would use. I use my phone, if it rains, I put it in my tankbag, and just work with vocals. When's your next tour Steve?
ОтветитьWill work with touch enabled gloves. 👍
ОтветитьHi
For the gloves toch screen solution add graphite to the tip of the finger with glue.
Regards hai
Great video mate, i like a dedicated sat nav unit that doesn’t need your phone such as the Zumo XT which is fabulous. Having said that i used the connected ride unit this summer on a ride down to Malaga and back, it performed well actually, although a little
Love your new bike too.
If you are willing to lick the glove finger you use to operate the device it will probably work.
ОтветитьYou gets what you pay for, Zumo XT for me, I would like carplay but the zumo works great doing what it's designed to do.
ОтветитьWhy dont you just get the Chigee A05 BMW version and this will attached straight to you nav system.
Ответитьi think the current Chigee A05 BMW version will suit your needs Steve
ОтветитьLooks like your near my old stomping ground of MK before moving to France, you cant beat a Super Sausage breakfast! and I do miss em. I much prefer using a stand alone sat nav as relying on your phone especially in Europe will be expensive and a bit hit and miss! Oh and you need to change that usb connector in the BMW power socket and replace the socket with a USB unit from Nippy
ОтветитьI fitted a Chigee AIO-5 a few months ago, which has performed brilliantly (and works with gloves on). I recently returned from a trip to the Picos where I used nothing but the Chigee for navigation and it was no problem at all. I did make sure I downloaded the offline maps for the area, and used the Scenic nav app so had no problems when I was out of phone signal range. I am definitely a convert to these CarPlay systems.
ОтветитьI have been using the Carpuride w702 for a year now with great satisfaction. Suits my needs.
ОтветитьIt instantly gets an extra point, if it takes me to Super Sausage 😅
ОтветитьOn my streetglide i have a same sort of build in carplay system “soundstream reserve” with wireless connector and i must say i’m not so keen on it, whilst navigating, running a speedcam app and listening to music it will drain the battery in under an hour, plus if you keep it to the charger on your phone battery it will get hotter and hotter. also been a couple occasions where the carplay just froze and had to start the system up al over, couldn’t imagine what problems you would have if you don’t have signal to reload the map in a more remote area. On an all road touring bike i would choose a Garmin XT as it has gps build in, plus tons of options to have a better unpaved ride etc. just my 2 cents. Ride save 🙏🏼💪🏼
ОтветитьDoes the device attach to an AMPS bracket. Can you also show how you mounted the cameras. That would be great.
ОтветитьFor that BMW it would be just plain stupid to buy this device over the chigee AIO5 that’s fully integrated to the BMW satnav mount and controls. Unless you get it for free like this guy then why would you choose it?
