I got dizzy just watching it

Story:

So yesterday, I saw that The Smiler was open so I wanted to go on it. (But this is where it all began..) so if you don’t know what it looks like, the queue is like zig zags everywhere. So we waited to go into this little building (there was more zig zags 😡) and then we moved a lot forward (😃) until we met a corner (all of this after about an hour and a quarter or smth) but then this happened. We got to the front row and then we got stuck in the building. Just because the tracks were clicking loudly while they were sending test carts, but theres like music that go’s hahahah and it was repeating just 24/7 for an hour. I was freaking out because it kept saying “sorry, but The Smiler is experiencing current issues, please exit the building.” Now nobody exit the building because they wanted to go on The Smiler because they desperately wanted to go onto it. As soon as we found an exit and ran out of there, The. Most. Saddest. Thing. Happened. To. Me, since i wanted to go on it so bad, just when we left the queue, The Smiler opened again😭..

Fantastic ride. Just wish I didn’t need my shoulders transplanting every time afterwards.

My favourite Rollercoaster ever. I miss being younger

I went to Alton Towers today as a rewards day with my School and the rides were SO TERRIFYING but i didnt go on The Smiler

Worst thing about the ride was the queue, had to wait 50 minute to get on and that was a lucky queue, also that laughing track that plays in the queue gets so annoying. Ride was great though

Went on this today, eager to get back on it. What a ride!

One of the best coasters I've ever been on, it's relentless and packs such a punch for its tiny footprint. But man I hate that themeing and soundtrack. Imagine working on it and having to listen to that all day, every day....

You know there's gonna be a ton of inversions when there's one before the lift hill.

I went on this when I was about 17 and nearly cried, went on again this weekend for my 11yo daughters birthday, proud to say my daughter and 13 yo nephew handled this like absolute bad asse'ss 😂😊

Went on this yesterday for the first time with my teenage daughter and her friend. We all absolutely loved it and was so worth the long 1.5hrs queue!😢

I went on this for the first time today and it's my new favourite. About a year ago I was actually terrified of rollercoaster and couldn't even bring myself to go on 13 but I finally faced my fears by riding every coaster in the park!!! Love the smiler

i hates when i was on smiler today and i got straight up and i felt like i was gonna fall

when I first ridden smiler at the vertical lift hill the sun was positioned in the exact place it would get in our eyes


Also making the exit the twilight zone after going upside down 14 times is the most disorienting thing ever

It honestly doesn’t look as bad a I thought. It doesn’t even have one vertical drop like I expected

I went on the smiler today I was absolutely petrified and almost crying. I now think this is my fave ride and it was surprisingly smooth if you are scared like me you just need think about what your scared of if it’s the loops go on nemesis reborn or even colossus at Thorpe if it’s you think you won’t like it the loops are quite slow and you have quite a lot of hang time wich relaxes the ride and it’s not a very fast rollercoaster. If it’s the heights think about it, you are in line with the trees so it’s not as tall as rollercoasters like hiperia. If you are scared about things that have happened in the past remember they check this thing every day and though the carts come close at times that’s just part of the experience, the smiler is themed to be a crazy concept. If you have any other fears or worries let me know and I’ll try to help. Personally I would do smiler then oblivion because after smiler I got a boost of confidence and stepped straight in the fast pass queue for oblivion and even that is fine. Luckily I had a golden fast pass so I could get a couple rides in the fast track lane. If it’s your first time like me definitely get a fast pass even if it’s just for the smiler because you just can’t think about it and it’s way easier if you step straight on. I went to alton towers today and went on the smiler first becuase i was so hyped. Trust me, this ride is honesltey so fun, the airtime is insane and you feel so weightless when you're on it. The vertical lifthill feels like you're about to fall off and the speed of the ride is faster than you'd think, especially at the start with the first inversion in the dark. All round an awesome ride 11/10 ❤❤
