I wonder how anyone could not like this film!! If you take in consideration that it was made in 1931 -- it's fantastic~~~ thanks for sharing this!!!
Ответитьhis girl friday is better
ОтветитьMenjou doesn't really say "son of a bitch" at the end--the noise of the typewriter carriage covers it cleverly--but at least the subtitles stay pre-Code. Entirely worth seeing for Menjou and O'Brien, and some terrific supporting players, performing some of the best overlapped comic dialog ever produced in his country, and the actors play those lines for all they're worth. "His Girl Friday" somewhat overshadowed this 9 years later, but this one shouldn't be missed! Thanks for posting it!
ОтветитьDarnest oldy molldy
ОтветитьI was playing the officer in the theatrical version of the front page it was awesome :)
ОтветитьExcellent!
Ответитьgreat to see this old film, caught the end on tv the other day, didn't know the'd made it at the time, had to look it up, thanks for posting. just saw the lemon/mathau remake of 74.
loved his gal friday as well. anyone see the remake of that with burt renolds and kathleen turner? they had the story at a cable news channel, and hid the convict it the bottom cabinet of a copier. nice to see a then modern take on it, but gal friday was better.
but love this original version.
Reading the bio on Ben Hecht. Recommended. William Mc Adams. Talks about opening night when this play was produced. The audience went nuts.
Ответитьgirl friday is better but this is enjoyable , great plot hence the re makes. thanks .
ОтветитьWow, didnt know there was another and ORIGINAL version of this movie, only seen the one with Cary Grant renamed "His Girl Friday" and then The Front Page with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. Coulda sworn there was one with Tony Curtis in it!
