It's unfortunate that the selfishness and thirst for power of some Europeans are responsible for the issues we face today. They have access to a vast amount of wealth and technology that could improve the world, but they choose to keep it hidden because it's not profitable. Providing housing as a basic human right and ending world hunger would be a small step for them., it would literally cost them nothing. The banks, royals, and the Vatican have made a significant amount of money off the backs of brown and black people without offering any help to make the world a better place in return. It's time to question their motives and hold them accountable. Instead of spending billions on wars, it would cost less to make peace. Let's start a meaningful conversation about this critical issue.

Land value tax sounds like it’s desperately needed.

If Margaret Tatcher stayed in power another 4 years, she would have paid off the U.K. debt and got rid of income tax.

This is so misleading it’s unbelievable! It’s got nothing to do with Thatcher she was a prudent responsible leader that made the hard choices to ensure Britain didn’t spend what it didn’t have. This should be the goal of all governments in debt today. The reason people around the world are poorer today compared to yesteryear is because of our monetary system eroding the value of money and as such work itself. The people that have access to debt and are first to get newly printed money are those that are now rich and getting richer! It’s not difficult it’s not about economic policy it’s about the monetary system!

The government bought by corrupt banksters, non dom "patriotic" media barons and various types of idle rich have funneled all the wealth to themselves. There has to be a ceiling on individual wealth and international agreements to close down off shore loot of the corrupt and the greedy. And digital currency

Im glad youve fingered high migration as one cause of inequality. So long as migration is high it is a huge money spinner for the property owning classes. When government takes general tax and uses it to pay rent for those who cant it puts money into the hands of the propert owning classes. So there it is an economy of circular money printing and people warehousing the funding of which is washed with the taxation of what productive work remains. Watch the gold price ride

We need to distinguish between poverty and inequality. If some Saudi princes have 365 different Ferraris, one for every day of the year, while other Saudi princes have to make do with just the one Ferrari, that’s inequality but it isn’t poverty. Cambodia under Pol Pot didn’t have much inequality, but everyone was living in a man-made hell on the brink of starvation.

Unfortunately the current definition of poverty used in statistics deliberately confuses it with inequality. Poverty is currently defined as having an income lower than 60% of the average income (i.e. it’s a definition of inequality masquerading as a definition of poverty). According to this definition, our Saudi prince with only one Ferrari is impoverished. It’s stupid, but there we are.

None of this means that the UK is fine and has nothing to worry about. I like this video and think it’s mostly a fair analysis. I just have a grump about that statistical sleight of hand.

Presumably we all want to make the poor richer. If the poor revolted, massacred all the wealthy, and burned down all their wealth, this would drastically reduce inequality. It wouldn’t make the poor any richer, however.

utter rubbish! wealth isn't real - it's only in paper. you can't tax something that isn't real as such. wealth say in property values is reflected in different levels of council tax, dividends are taxed. you can only tax "wealth" when it becomes real that is the assets are sold and profit taken then you can tax the profit - capital gains.

thatcher made two big mistakes - privitsation and stop building and selling council houses

sale of essentials like energy, water, rail, post, infrastructure, etc was to make uk dependent on market forces particularly international markets and relying on profit making companies to provide essential services is toob risky

population growth needs housing. Low income earners need assistance with housing and relying markets is just stupid.

selling council houses only reduces the stock for those who need it and fuels property prices.

immigration is not the cause of inequality but a symptom of needing cheap labour.

As the globalized digital age was ushered in, the earning potential of the top quartile grew tremendously, at the same time, manual and menial labor was somewhat devalued, again due to globalization. Given that people are created differently, and those differences are now magnified by our digitized world and globalized markets, we shouldn't be too dismayed that the income gap is widening. Maybe a wealth tax is part of the solution, but there is no way to tax the top earners such that all people can be brought up to the top earner's standard of living.

The UK is in a very perilous state today following decades of Tory governments.
10 million unemployed with a decaying Welfare State for starters.
Privatisations sold cheap.
Brexit sold to the people with lies and deceit.
What to do with a de-industrialised overpopulated consumer led country where the main occupation is hairdressing?

Inequality isn't a problem. Government, mostly through taxation, and laziness are the true issues. Doesn't mean jack if my neighbour is a billionaire. There are many reasons people can be poor such as a lack of work due, state benefits, poor education, refusal to relocate or retrain, minimum wage or other government market restrictions, mental illness/addiction etc. Blaming those who actually work to make their lives better is asinine.
