Swapping From 4K to 1440p - The Pros Were Right!

Sorry I sound like a hater I have a 4090 Tuf ASUS REF 4080 and 4070ti stryx in my PC and 4080 in G 18 stryx laptop 💻 none of them can pull off 4K 60 if it’s something like cyberpunk without DLSS so yeah maybe 32GB with the 5090 we will see but 8k 😂😂😂

I own 4k with 240hz and so the question is useless to me aslong my pc can handle the game above 160~

I’m not giving up my Asus 360Htz 1440P Monitor giving me over 500 FPS running a 14900KS, 4090 GPU. 4K will drain my performance FPS And I’m not willing to give that up. When 4K OLED Monitors can run at 360 Htz and a GPU can pump out 500 FPS at 4K, then I will upgrade.

Idk why you say professionals play at 1440p, they simply don't. They basically all still play at 1080p even in late 2024.

If your eyes are just a few feet away from the monitor, you just need a 27 inch monitor or smaller. For 1440p gaming, the maximum size is 27 inches. If you go bigger, then you need 4k.

It really depends on your setup and how far your eyes are from the monitor.

Everybody knows this. 4K is for single player.

I have RTX 3080 and 144hz 4k monitör. Even 3080 is not enough to reach consistent 80+ fps in modern games. I play 1080p 144fps instead of 4k 60fps. 144 fps is better.

diablo4 on a oled is the sweet spot.

The only 1440p I would recommend is:

3440x1440p

16:9 it feels simply small and think something is missing....my personal opinion

If you're not viewing 4k on a screen larger than 75 inches...don't bother.

I have a 7900xtx and its perfect for 120 to 240hz in FPS. 4k is nice but OLED 1440p with no dips and high refresh rate is the way to go. Corsair XENEON FLEX 45 cant be beat.

I run a 4k 32 inch and you can always just set it to 1440p in games.

Depends on what you do on it, in the 27-32'' range 4K is much better for work and for strategy games or similar. For fast FPS games 4K is a uselessly high resolution as your eyes can't even notice the difference at that 144/240/360Hz with screen content changing very fast while usually having lower settings in the game to avoid any possible stuttering.

DLDSR 2.25x on 1440p display buried 4K native display for a long time, barely noticeable. (30” or less at least)

Absolutely no point at all in getting a 240hz monitor for any console when they can't push higher then 120 with the very best consoles.

If you have a Xbox series x/s get a 4K monitor 27inch and you can switch the resolution on the Xbox settings to 1440p

I play PC at 4k on an LG c1. However a few weeks ago I connected the PC to a portable 1080p display. I was gobsmacked by the signifigantly lower latency of playing at 1080p.

However it's deal breaking for me because I stopped playing competative fps games 8 years ago.

I just went from 32" 4K 144Hz to 27" 1440p 360Hz OLED - I miss the resolution a lot, but 1440p just feels nicer and less "clunky" than 4K. Running a 4090 too.

Professionals should play on 21:9... like 34' ...or wider.
Bigger = see more in the distance, wider = see more of flanking enemies.
Once you try it in desktop use ...especially shooter ...there is no going back.

Im buying 1440p monitor for amd 3600 and rtx 2060, at non AAA games it will be good. But if you tune down att that blur, neons and that things that make a game look like a "disco dance floor" im sure you will be good with AAA games too.

So does it wear on your ps5 more if you use 4k over 1440?

Most of the comments here seem to be choosing 1440p not because it looks similar but because their GPUs aren't fast enough, but what they don't seem to realize is that 1440p on a 4k screen still looks better than 1440p on a native 1440p screen, higher pixel density matters! Just get 4k if you can and enjoy best of both worlds, nobody says you have to play at 4k!

But 0.0001% of your audience are pros + it doesnt mean anything to follow ones method or not, the main goal is just to have a very responsive screen, lots of constant frames, sitting at a good distance and clarity period, you could have made a 1 minute video by saying this, no need to make it this long for such a poor subject. The reason you were bad when transitioning to 4k is just the muscle memory adaptation nothing more

I play console games and PC on a 77” Oled, I 98% play single player games.

I’m good I want 4k or upress to 4k cuz o can notice blurry picture on low resolution. But that works for me.

The question is when talking 27 and 32 inch monitors is the sharpness really that much better to justify it?

Its really about how close you need to sit to your monitor, I sit about 3 feet away from my monitor, so i still use 1080p. If you sit so close you can punch your screen, then 4k and 1440p are more viable for you.

4k is king not 2k. I started on a 14inch crt back in the day 90s on quake. Ive done competitive gaming since the 90’s and sharper is better but when it come down to it to be better is practise and a good internet connection with a decent frame rate

And their requirements are nothing like 99.999% of others'.
Sure, I wouldn't recommend going to 4K unless you can do it at >90fps and with a nice monitor, but if you can and especially if you have, why the heck would you go to 1440p?
Also, if you want to go above a 27 inch monitor (non-widescreen), then 1440p is too low unless you like seeing pixels/jaggies.
As always: Horses for courses. But 4K is literally objectively better IF you can maintain the FPS you like. Even if you have to 'lower' the settings to get the FPS on 4K, you still get a better image if you do it right, for one example: At 4k you can nearly turn off AA since the pixels are so small, so that technically 'lower' setting (less AA) isn't a disadvantage at all.

I play on a monitor that has 1080p 165hz with 1ms response time and I prefer it over the 4k Monitor The graphical difference is very minimal. I only care about frames.

Hi I have a question I bought my 1440p 300hz monitor and on the box it says 1440p/4k but I can only play 4k at 60hz so is it actually 4k or is it 4k downscaled to 1440p I’m confused to wether or not it would be better for me to use the 4k option in single player games like will the graphics be better

keep in mind, sometimes 2k monitors will have better colors and contrast vs 4k, and 4k isnt necessary until 32 inches or above, especially if all you're doing is gaming. I also would choose visual fidelity over any hz over 240hz. You can tell the difference between 60hz-120hz, but you cant really see much difference between 120-240 and even less above that, but sometimes the higher hz monitors also have better response times
