An incredibly insightful video. Thank you!
ОтветитьThank you for this video! as someone suffering a combination of dysthemia combined with reoccuring major depression alongside with ADHD and aspergers its kinda hard to get any sort of understanding for why im just not functional and why im just not doing things others feel are trivial, even if im healthy in body. im still youngish but when I had my frist double deprssion at 18 my life seemed to get derailed more and more, leading to me being unemployed for a few months now after two unsuccesful jobs and a luckily completed apprenticeship in a special institution. Im now actively seeking treatment for both my depressions and adhd so that I may get in a state where day to day life isnt excessively draining.
ОтветитьThis is one of the most comprehensive videos I've ever seen about ADHD!! It's worth watching it many times! And thank you for all the references in the description too.
Ответить"Mood swing" &c. are terms of art, on the one hand, and appropriate use thereof enhances the quality of the discourse.
I think folk conception of terms also facilitates communication. "Technically it's emotional lability or volatility" is fine there.
However, it's definitely true I wish I'd been told "when you're very upset, try to relax, and see how you feel in an hour" decades ago. I worried about "mood swings" and knew about bipolar, and definitely could've benefited from knowing that wasn't even in the realm of what I was dealing with.
Wow … a video every few days!
ОтветитьGreat video, the audio quality is great too!
ОтветитьThanks!
Ответитьthat's a very nice shirt btw ^^
I love your room!
Im insterested and curious how you put yourself in a medical trial/study <3
ОтветитьThe whole spectrum from ADHD to Autism and everything in between is brain damage caused by high temperature fever in infancy.
ОтветитьI got banned from the ADHD forum on Reddit because a bunch of people were trying to conflate Bpd of all things with ADHD. Absolutely dangerous comparison. !! Upset because I really enjoyed that forum.
Ответитьthis guy is the coolest uncle typed vibes
ОтветитьWhy is psychiatry so focused on controlling or treating symptoms of disorders and not cures? Is it because enough is not known?
ОтветитьIn the Bible, The person with ADHD would be broadly defined as a fool. Although this is not a category one would want to be labeled with, there was more hope for fools than those wise in their own conceit, which can include those with ADHD, and those without it.
ОтветитьVery well done again Dr. Kruse. Bravo! One can see agitation and irritability in anxiety, depression, and ADHD in addition to to bipolar. I'm grateful for your trying to differentiate these conditions. best.
ОтветитьHi, love this in depth examination of differential diagnoses. I am a psychiatrist that also specialises in adhd and autism, it's refreshing to hear such a nuanced view on this topic.
A small point on which we might differ. I believe (and have often clinically seen) that people with autism can also have interests that have deep meaning or are linked to understanding what's behind their narrow interests. I'd actually go as far as to say that passionate interests in some people with adhd have, in my experience, been more associated with superficiality than in people with autism. Perhaps due to it being more flighty/linked to these interests being temporary and induced under specific circumstances. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this?
Warm greetings from a colleague from Belgium
When I first contacted a psychologist for an assessment I was looking at a possible diagnosis for ASD. I was surprised when they said ADHD. However getting an ADHD diagnosis from a psychiatrist seems to be difficult due to the medications being addictive and commonly abused. The one I spoke with at Kaiser flat out said they won't diagnose ADHD. Instead it led to a diagnosis for some of the symptoms, depression and anxiety... both seemingly related to living with ADHD.
ОтветитьGreat
ОтветитьHey you already have more than 200 videos on this channel!! You could create a playlist with your best 10 videos to introduce new viewers to your content. I think this video is one of the best you've ever done!
ОтветитьWow I think you forgot autism is on a spectrum, and every autistic person can have quite different mannerisms, especially if you through 1 or more comorbidities to the mix.
ОтветитьShame on you, an alledged Doctor of psychology, pulling Donald J. Trump into this video as an example of someone with dilated eyes and on stimulants. I wld expect him to be as lean and trim as Barack Obama the way you matter o' facty accuse Mr. Trump of this, and without any 1st hand proof other than "dialiated eyes." There are many possible explanations, stage snd camera lights turning on and off, as well as other medical treatments like I have for an eye condition, and other possible medications and factors too. If you did have proof of this disinformation -slander - it wld be his private HIPPA information. You are rude and obviously bias. Of all the celebrity and politicians out there to use for an example, you pull Donald J. Trump out of your trick hat? Im sure your Laeyer wld suggest that you preference your slanderous, misinformation comments with words like 'Alledged'.
I hope everyone with a FB account tags Donald J Trump and his Family who are likewise harmed with this rude and highly unscientific statement.
This needs to be seen by the person you use for an example of drug use. Be a man, and say it to his face. At least tag him to he can be made aware. Youre a highly unethical weasel with TDS engaging in election slander and sneaky pot shot allegations.
Everyone please share and tag Donald J. Trump with this unprofessional video in as many ways possible so that he can choose to address the way this monotone speaking content creator used his name. This is a shameful video and a low blow.
Hi Dr. Kruse--thanks for being such a resource on ADHD. Is a feeling of jitteriness a common symptom of adult ADHD, especially hyperactive types? I recognize that sometimes people can become jittery with certain meds, too much caffeine, and with anxiety. I wonder if you see jitteriness and racing thoughts with ADHD patients. Can the stimulants help reduce that jitteriness, or do you prefer agents like Guanfacine or Lamictal. Not looking for medical advice, just your clinical perspectives. Again, thank you. Best!
