My aunt taught me to build a fire and put them in it, it will burn everything off.

Fantastic! I would have bought a new one and seasoned it. I don’t have the patience (or a back yard) to do all that stuff.

Impressive I’m surprised the chemicals worked so well, I would have just started with sandpaper.

I love rescuing damaged cast iron pans. I found one at a outdoor rummage sale that had been running for a weekend filled with rain. When I found it, it was red with rust. I bought it for $3 and took it home and brought it back to life. So rewarding.

The best way, that is if you can - build a big arss roaring fire, place that skillet in the hottest part of that fire and leave it there until the fire burns out. It will take that skillet down to the bare bones. That's how I clean all my all rescued cast iron cookware.

Bacon grease! That's what my grandmother used and her mother used. Fry up some bacon in the skillet. Remove bacon, drain excess amount out of skillet. Leaving enough to rub on sides. Put in warm oven for a hour. I would put the oven on 350. Then when bacon is done turn oven down to 275. And put skillet in the oven.😊

Best way for cleaning cast iron every day cleaning is course Salt, and lemon. Then heat to dry and season well.

Wow, really goes to show that where there's a will there's a way. If someone had told me to clean that thing without at least an angle grinder and wire wheel, I'd have told them to kick rocks.

If the inside is rough, especially the bottom, sand it smooth. This step is no longer done by Lodge, in order to save money.

I have found the best way to season a cast-iron skillet is to cook in it, get you some bacon girl put that grape seed oil back on the shelf

Throw it in your campfire for about 30 minutes on each side to season it very well before you grease it down

OH MY GOD! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO 😭😭😭😭😭😭 I have my grannys and her mom's cast iron but I can't use it anymore!! They've just gotten to a point that no amount of scrubbing is keeping your eggs from turning gray 😭 I have been so sad not being able to use them but all these crazy ass methods I've seen I can't do those! And I can't afford to pay for all of them to be professionally done! AHHHHH! I'm going to try this ASAP I want my pans back 😢😢😢
