The Rhodes piano has recently been reborn in the form of the hardware Rhodes MK8. The V8 Pro plug-in is its faithful virtualization and arguably the best-sounding piano of this kind. We are listening to MIDI recordings played by a polish keyboardist Michał FOX Król. For each example I adjusted the dynamics using the MIDI Velocity plug-in in Ableton Live. In this one, the envelope in the preamplifier section acts as an Auto-Wah, by controlling the equalizer.

For each preset you can save a profile, which includes separate tuning, tone and level settings for each key. However, we can adjust the profile in a separate tab or change it without changing the preset. 30,000 samples recorded at 96kHz resolution make the raw Rhodes sound warm, full and dynamic. And with the right settings, the new Rhodes can sound like an older, even slightly detuned, model.

Pros: beautiful, extremely detailed sound, it is truly an audiophile instrument. Loading a dozen or so instances puts little strain on RAM and very little on the processor, unlike physical modeling. Very good effects.

Cons: Even though I love most factory presets, In my opinion, they went a bit too far with some experimental ones. Extensive adjustment options mean that sometimes you have to look for the right preset for a long time or edit the settings yourself to find the desired sound. The graphical interface replicating the original is eye-catching but controls are quite small unless you enlarge the window, which is scalable by the way But the instrument sounds phenomenal and that's the most important thing. The pro version costs approximately $270.

The company's offer also includes a $100 cheaper version based around the same set of 60GB samples, but without the effects and amplifier section. If you like the instrument, please use the affiliate link in the description - the price will be the same for you, and a small commission may cover the costs of creating this and other new videos. Thanks
