As a fellow realist, I appreciate all angles of a story before I invest time, money and effort into anything. Emotions are great motivation, but critical thinking can save your butt if you are aware. Turning undeveloped 25 wooded mountain property into a Glamping resort is NOT easy to do even in the best conditions. I owned this land already, so I was not planning anything but a cabin or 2 when I bought it. But as I moved into my 50s and started to think about a way to exit corporate life and create a sustainable income stream for myself, I thought Glamping would be a great way to accomplish that with minimal disruption of the beautiful mountainscape.. I was not wrong, but zoning variances, county inspectors, shortages of manpower and materials are making this even tougher. I'm still slogging along doing almost all the work myself out of necessity (and impatience) but this part is a young man's game. I know my investment of time and effort (along with changing hearts and minds) will pay off eventually. I also know how fortunate I am to have a

Despite wishing you success, I'm not here to hear that everything about your business is perfect and see you flexing on your land looking at the far distance like "ahh life is good". I want to start my own business and need all the info necessary to do so and especially the negative ones. They say we learn from our mistakes and it's not false but I'd rather learn from others mistakes and that is exactly what you're doing, telling us what to expect, the things to avoid or do etc

On another note would be interested in your advice regarding some land.

Most people live in a fantasy world. Any viewpoint that brings a dose of reality contrary to their fantasy elicits a negative response on their part. That’s the reality in all businesses.

I've wanted to build a glamping property for my family.
It would be a good place for all of my kids and grandkids to get together.
Maybe having an Airbnb would be a way to help pay for it. Thanks for the information 🙂
