I’m an experienced knitter. I’ve never crocheted before but I have a knit dishcloth pattern that calls for a crocheted bind off.

I´ve been crocheting for over a year and I just realized that I´ve been doing it completely wrong this whole time.
That explains why my projects always turn bad.

Why looping a strand from the bottom and never from the top??? I have always done it from the top 😝 looking the yarn from the top is sleeker, doesn’t move your work and you don’t need to wiggle the hook

On the second row I felt like you were going through the middle and having two threads on your needle. Is that my imagination? You didn’t mention it so I’m not sure whether I’m seeing things.

I can't do it

I find using stitch markers helps the most in identifying the end of beginning of rows. Thanks for the tutorials.

I have tried THREE times but each time the chain gets tighter, until I can’t do it anymore. Does anyone know why? I’m not pulling on it. It just gets tight when I get to the single crochet.

So for the foundation single stitch you only go through the back V, whereas moving forward you go under both the front and back V?

Can anyone tell me if the chain is meant to be 30 or 31? In other videos ive watched it say to Y/O or last stitch as a turning stitch. For example if you want a row of 10 stitches you would chain 11. One stitch being the turning stitch. Can anyone please clarify?

Bless you. After a life time of crochet I had a mini stroke and forgot how to do all my stiches. Your calm voice and very clear instructions helped me tremendously to remember how to do everything. I wasn't sure anyone would bother making a video like this, so I am grateful I found you!

Please rid your language of “go ahead.” It isn’t necessary to the sentence. It slows what you are saying and just interferes with remembering what to do because it is filler and irrelevant. So many others say “what you are going to want to do is you are going to want to paint it black.” It is concise to say “paint it black.” I have no idea if you said anything beyond go ahead, because I couldn’t finish watching.
