For everyone who likes The White Lotus, he had an excellent HBO show a few years back called “Enlightened.” He was actually an actor in it too, but it starred Laura Dern. It was great. Two exceptional seasons.

This was a delightful interview. I’m a big fan of Mike, from even before TWL. He’s such a talented guy. Glad he’s killing it.

Mike White is a fantastic writer. This is my favorite season. (I've watched the other seasons several times) I'm loving the slow build, the in-depth charcters, the Buddhist theme, the examination of "self" and death. BRAVO.

I would also love to see what Mike comes up with, setting a show (not necessarily this one) in Japan.

The show's first season was fresh and fun. The second season was even better. Great characters/casting, interesting narratives and a beautiful Sicilian location. Jennifer Coolidge was a major contributor to the success of both seasons. Finding Season 3 a slog. Characters and location are established in the first episode. Literally nothing has transpired since. Lots of long looks, sighing, slow motion dreams, slow motion scenes - think that's called filer. Happy to put a bullet in this implausible storyline on Sunday. It is boring!

Agree with Mike! Most TV is an assault on the senses and so choppy. Everything is a montage. It’s exhausting.

Mike White is a long-time vegan and animal rights activist. On April 1, VegNews did a piece about season 4 being held at a vegan resort in Greece.Turned out it was an April Fool's joke, but I hope Mike read it because it's a great idea!

Mike White is a creep.

I hope Mike White gets some much needed rest. After listening to his interviews, it's easy to see why Season 3 went south for many viewers, and lost a lot of energy. There were some serious, questionable character decisions that made no sense and defied logic. Sloppy development. It looked to me like a sleepless, tired mind came up with this stuff, and there wasn't enough time in the day to think things through. I don't think the brilliance of Season 1 & 2 were outliers. I just think Mike White needs more rest.

I love him because he is so brilliant yet so modest and down to earth. What about magnesium for sleep? and calmness? He's so funny that he wants to win at sleeping.

Umm..,would not say that he doesn't show his age, he looks exhausted and drained.

Poor guy looks exhausted. HBO needs to give him his space before leaning on him to create a season 4. Fans of the show will wait. Get some rest, Mr. White.

He’s unassuming and affable but make no mistake Mike White IS a genius. White Lotus is one of the most original shows this decade.

It's especially hard because he has to come up with an entirely different cast of characters - along with a different country. Season 3 is probably the worst, but that doesn't mean it was bad. Season 2 was his masterpiece. I do think the Country and culture is also a character of the show. I also think this season showed, just because there were more episodes, doesn't mean it was better. He also had more time this season to try to perfect everything. Sometimes... when you don't have as much time, your best work comes out.
