Ask A CISSP | Meet Jacob Hill - Founder of the GRC Academy and Host of the GRC Academy Podcast

Jacob Hill shares his "cybersecurity origin story", starting from his early career in IT support to his transition to the government and private sectors. ABOUT JACOB HILL

I have over 15 years of experience consisting of a mixture of technical and leadership roles. I have a master’s degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Western Governor's University, and hold several certifications including CISSP-ISSEP, CEH, Security+, CySA+, ITIL v3 Foundation, DAWIA IT L3, and many more.

I currently serve as an Executive Vice President of Cybersecurity, Compliance, and Technology and have developed a security and compliance program from the ground up. I also have been responsible for architecting and implementing the entire corporate IT infrastructure for the company.

I have GRC experience in RMF, NIST 800-171, CMMC, ISO 9001, ISO 20000-1, and ISO 27001. I have also published CVEs, and my security research has been featured by Brian Krebs and Infosecurity Magazine.

I am the founder of GRCAcademy.io and the GRC Academy podcast. GRC Academy offers CMMC training which is focused on the Defense Industrial Base as well as NIST Cybersecurity Framework training.

I have hands-on technical administration and engineering experience with Windows, Linux, cloud (AWS, Azure, and GCP), and enterprise security tools such as Azure Sentinel, Graylog, Microsoft Defender for 365/Cloud/Endpoint, Microsoft Intune, Tenable.io, Zscaler Internet Security (ZIA), Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), and more.

I possess the Certified Project Officer certification from the Institute of Project Management, and have led different teams that included cyber, developer, engineering, and procurement personnel.

Finally, I own a small business which focuses on website design, development, and hosting!
