I drew my girlfriend a couple days ago and it turned out alright and I've only drawn realistic faces three times. I had my photo reference on my phone and started drawing. Music kept me motivated.

Comics are one of the best methods of innate practice for art. It forces you to draw things you didn’t anticipate drawing, different poses and expressions, backgrounds, etc!

This video so correctly describes the process of practice, inspiration and even depression, which just kills creativity and can discourage any form of artwork for years. Im too attached to inspired practice and it gets me somewhere so slow and you'll get mad of seeing you're not going anywhere,
I would really recommend going mechanical practice first even if its boring it is better and faster getting what you want and be able to get what you inspired even more faster.
