I can understand why vans ventured to make other kind of shoes in the 80s. Skateboarding was almost dead in early to mid 80s. The sports shoes market was dominated by other brands and vans almost went bankrupt. When I started skateboarding in the early 90s, airwalks were the choice as they were affordable. A pair of vans could buy you almost two pairs of airwalks.

Though not a skate shoe, remember Soap Shoes?! 😂 I remember they had an office near where Girl’s headquarters was.

I guess I’m a offender because I have a pair of mostly new Airwalk Vics. They have lace savers and are airwalk so this are a relict when I pull them out for job interviews or try to get smooches. They are black on black so with baggy jeans they look sharp. Unlike my prod 6s that are extremely reflective. They are also like new. I guess I just like weird

The original d3 I had in 1999 or 2000. My gym teacher called them clown shoes. Now I was a smaller kid that only skateboarded. So there was no leg day in my life. Glad to look retarded for a bit to support the industry.
