John Lennon Wondered Where He Fit Into The Beatles

He is wondering because Yoko screwed up his mind and he lost himself.

I have an idea where he could’ve fit in and made a contribution without getting hurt. Being more present in Julian’s life.

John was the genius of that band. Paul did a lot of wonderful things, but a lot of his stuff was pretty sappy and muzak.

The irony of this is that if The Beatles had disbanded after Magical Mystery Tour ... its most likely that both Paul and George would have had stellar solo careers ... especially Paul ... to the point where today many people would be saying that Paul WAS the real talent behind The Beatles. And that John was just another Rock and Roller.

Ringo has said emphatically several times it was Paul who got them back in the studio for every record.

The key to his assassination was the guy who showed up for a one night stand as the Doorman. The Truth is Out There.

John was the leader. The driving force. Without John the Beatles at best would have been a very successful slightly interesting band. John gave them the edge and the wit.

Imagine being John Lennon and feeling left out in the Beatles. He was the star of the show!

The Beatles were John's band. But to make money, really make money, he had to give up control to their manager. So they dressed different, acted different and became the most popular band, a pop band. No longer John's Rock N' Roll band. A style that suited Paul more. So eventually by Magical Mystery Tour, Paul was the creative director.

John Lennon was a nasty guy. Every interview with him he’s bitching about something.

What was your contribution? You were the one who put the whole thing together in the first place.

"Love cloud with Yoko..." Try smokescreen. Poor old sod got lost in those clouds and misplaced his talent along the way before he fell from the sky.

This is why the number one rule for any band is "No Yokos allowed"

deep down john was insecure. he hid it for a long time but owned it later on.

Pride, root of all, sins, falls, and group in cohesiveness, but also creativity , a balence beam workout.

Never liked john. Or most of his songs.

What can you say but John was just a jealous guy.

John was insufferable, it was a wonder they got anything done.

Paul was the melody, John had the lyrics and the engineering masters, so both are equally needed. Without one of them, they fall apart.

That’s too bad he felt hurt. How could he not know how so many people thought he was really good.

Love to you, John, thank you.
And thank you to Paul, George and Ringo, too.

No John, Paul is blessed with many gifts but you are you and I find you as equally philosophical as Paul. Simplicity was Paul's philosophy, yours was inward looking philosophy. I don't think George was all that philosophical to give any new direction (even though he was experimenting with the transcendental Indian music and meditation).

The Beatle George was really competing with was not so much Paul as John. After John bonded with Yoko, he took a big step back from the Beatles, leaving Paul to assume the role of band leader. George felt like he should rightfully fill the void John left, but Paul resisted regarding George as John's musical equal. Paul kept trying to coax John back into the Beatles' fold, which George took as a personal rebuff. This was effectively a musical love triangle, with John wanting out and George wanting in.

Let's be honest. There would be no Beatles without John, Paul. George and Ringo!

John was a bad husband, bad father to his first son. Good songwriter and stoeyteller. "Artists" are generally crap humans.

Without George Martin the Beatles would have been just another band

Paul was the glue of the band. Plus equally talented much like the other three, if not more. A big thank you to Paul.

I truly believe that Yoko Ono poisoned his mind.

Most people think that John was the creative one and the leader who gave them that edge and unique ability.

Seems all these guys felt under-appreciated at times in that band

What an intense admission from a young man at the center of a maelstrom with his mates, just trying tp live and create! Look at all these ridiculous comments from people who, for some unknown reason, feel entitled to judge!

John and George were jealous of Paul as they both knew Paul was the Mozart of our times

John was the leader of The Beatles, yet Lennon was so insecure. I wonder if that was part of the reason George had to fight so hard to have his compositions recorded. Heck Lennon didn't play any instruments on most of the songs written by Harrison. A true leader shouldn't hold someone down. It breeds resentment all around.

No one cares, John. You and your music were Godless.

Yoko hate is racially driven.

Its so good to see John giving the deserved credit to Paul. He usually didnt.

I could listen to John for days on end. Brilliant man, fine speaker, sharp wit, great songwriter and musician.

He was very insightful saying he was like Zappa, someone who was very unique and more of an acquired taste, but not accessible to everybody, a little socially awkward and not good at selling himself. Paul can sometimes show his insecurities by trying to write music he thinks other people will like versus writing to make himself happy, like John does. Both great artists, complicated people.

Paul was the top pop star of the world....but lennon was the true deep artist and his music does not age. Pauls stuff is aging fast.

JOHN WAS the Creator, the visionary and the leader .. Without John there would have been no Beatles and Without Elvis there may not have been John as we know him. It was ELVIS that completely inspired John to turn from art school, drawing and writing to go into music. John has said that in print. Now if John had not taken the musical direction I feel he wouldve been known as a poet a serious writer of fiction and advant garde ,, also possibly a painter ..But Elvis was his first real male role model ,, an that changed everything

Lennon's productivity decreased in their later years.

Goes to show... even huge stars are insecure. Paul has also admitted multiple times to feeling insecure about many things. The psychology behind these two is nothing short of fascinating.
