As much as I like connivence...I will never not buy the physical version unless there is some deal or it’s a free download

I find only downloading games makes me less excited to play the games, makes me appreciate the experience less, just clicking on some icon...there’s no ritual...however small, there’s no preparation (again however small) of looking at the case, opening it and inserting the disk or cartridge

This is why ps4 and Xbox is better

Years from now video games will just be available on a streaming service like Netflix we wont be able to actually own them. So good luck when the internet is out or they pull your favorite series or game due to licensing. All the digital loving trolls will have a harder time justifying supporting pure digital.

I feel kinda bad for Panic Button. They do some kickass work with Switch ports (Doom, Wolfenstein, Rocket League, Warframe, the recently released Hob...) but not this latest port job will not get the respect it deserves because Bethesda just screwed the release up! I wanted to support Panic Button, but Bethesda is making it more and more difficult.

It’s pretty clear that the lack of a physical cartridge but their making disc versions on PS4 & XBOX is because cartridges are more expensive to make and they want a greater profit margin. Not saying it’s right, but I’m pretty sure it’s the reason.

Some people just want the box for collection so it works out for them. For reg people no. At the same time might only have a part on the cartridge and download the rest. Of that's not.the case then a fail

i have a feeling that nintendo arent making the smaller switch carts much cheaper than the bigger ones so they either need to make carts that are even smaller like 4 gb or sell them to publishers for cheaper because making a 4gb or even a 8gb really doesent cost that much

I think it's ridiculous. That practice definitely has potential to alienate consumers that want to stay physical with their media. I have supported Bethesda up to this point, and was looking fwd to the game, but now I'm passing it up. The dl for wolf2 was bad enough, but at least, I own the game (kind of)...until a server doesn't have the digital content available anymore. Same issue with the upcoming MK11. Really? All they are giving us on the cartridge is 6g? A 22g day one dl is mandatory. Its crap.

Why don’t these companies/developers focus on porting last gen games? That way they could actually fit games on the cartridges and they could fix bugs and update the games to look and play better? Like instead of RDR2 and The Witcher 3 why not RDR1 and The Witcher 2? That would be more feasible to port games than have games barely on a cart, barely working and downgraded? They could bring new life to old games and the games would sell depending on how popular the games were. Like Bioshock, The Evil Within, RDR1 The Witcher 2 etc. mostly this is just developers being cheap at this point. The Nintendo Switch has a huge install base now and these devs need to realize that they will make money from putting games on the cartridges. People will buy them and they will make money. I don’t want these companies owning a game I paid for. Digital only and streaming services are bull. Yes digital is convenient but, they could take the game away for almost any reason from us if they think we are cheating or anything. The terms and services says this. We do not own a digital copy. Physical should be a given choice for anyone who wants it. If someone wants digital that’s fine. But, I don’t. I want to be able to play my games once online shuts down.

The Wii shop closure is why I am only getting physical versions of games for the Switch, can’t do that with PC though so hopefully Steam doesn’t shut down in the near future

I know I'm pretty late with this comment, but this is the problem with cartridges. As soon as I saw that the Switch was gonna use cartridges I was like, "Oh man, that's gonna cause a lot of problems". I know a lot of people are pissed at Bethesda, but think about it, if you were a developer or publisher, would you want to shell out a lot more money for, say a 32GB cartridge for a game that is maybe 24GB? I guarantee you wouldn't. Cartridges are a lot more expensive than you people think, and if you ask me, I think Nintendo should lower the prices of them. Looks guys I'm a big Nintendo fan, I have been since the NES, and I do like the Switch overall, but honestly, using cartridges instead of Blu-Ray discs for a home console is never a good idea. Despite all the advances in technology, they're still cartridges and still have a lot of limitations. That's why I'm hoping that for their next console, Nintendo makes a more traditional console with Blu Ray discs so this kind of stuff doesn't happen anymore

The actual release date is around the end of July. It’s probably then you’ll get a physical copy, so crying about digital code does nothing.

It's shitty yes, but here's my speculation (I AM NOT CONDONING THIS). The physical box on store shelves is for impulse purchases, for those browsing the aisle not thinking of buying a specific game. Visibility equals more sales. To increase the profit margin of each sale, Bethesda opted for digital downloads rather than physical cards. They most likely will justify this decision with the $30 price point. Transparency would have been nice.

The moment games will be all digital I will stop buying consoles like wtf man the only platforms where digital only makes sense is pc Mac and iOS android
