Agree with ur analogies. Ride what u like..
ОтветитьTraded in my 2017 Road Glide Ultra for a 2023 Honda Gold Wing
ОтветитьMost f the hells angels guys wear full face or modular helmets now. Safety, and, anonymous.😜
ОтветитьDon't be so insecure and get rid of those T-shirts or you'll never get laid
ОтветитьYou had a great topic today. It's nice to know how other riders feel about a brand change. I have never had a Harley but I like their bikes. I just ride a Goldwing because it's more suited to me. Stay safe and enjoy the ride.
ОтветитьHi M<too Mengy, what kind of GoPro mount do you use on your bars and helmet? ZI just traded my street glide in on the 2021 honda goldwing tour. I love this bike! You have helped me cause I own Steelhorse Barbershop (Harley theme) I wear the Harley Gear as my barbershop uniform. Now What?!
ОтветитьI feel ya brother - My 1st Bike was a 1983 Kawasaki 454 (HD look alike) I was 15 and my Dad always had a few Harleys in the Garage. I started dating a non bike person and gave em up fer 35 years and when I went back to riding the GW was the only choice fer my 54 year old arse !!
ОтветитьI've owned many brands of motorcycles, including Harley Davidsons. I have never been part of any lifestyle just because I ride a certain brand of motorcycle. I am who I am regardless of what I ride. For one, I HAVE NEVER BEEN A BIKER OR A BIKER WANT TO BE. I am and always have been a motorcyclist. I don't have any tattoos, I don't drink any alcohol, I don't smoke(unless I'm on fire) and I don't use fowl language.
When I started riding there were just a few people who owned motorcycles and they were all fine people. Yes, they owned Harleys but they worked for a living and enjoyed riding when they could. I've met some motorcyclist who ride BMW's and Moto Guzzi's who are all about the ride, not the make of motorcycle.
In more recent years it seems there are a lot of snobs who own Goldwings. This is all silly. People don't make fun of somebody or get angry at someone for owning a Ford, or Chevy, or Dodge. Why do they do so when somebody owns a motorcycle of a different brand of what they own???
I've always been a motorcyclist and always will be. I don't dress any different when I ride a motorcycle than I do when I drive my car or truck. I don't play dress up, not even on Halloween.
I just sold my 2019 CVO Limited but when I went and looked at the 2021 CVO Limited and decided it’s time to look at a Goldwing. I’m a loner so I never did do the lifestyle . I have maybe 3 tee shirts
ОтветитьWe don't ride the HD because of the stuff we own, we ride HD because we can't imagine riding anything else. That's a culture. Just like I'm a Ford guy. Will never drive a Chevy. Nothing bad or good about either, it just is. And if I have to explain it to you... 😉
Ride safe brother.
It’s a motorcycle life style I’ve owned 13 harleys my next bike will probably be an Indian I’ll still go to Harley dealerships Dayton bike week sturgis and wear my Harley gear. Ride your gold wing and enjoy it. If it fit me better I’d look at it
ОтветитьDo you what makes you happy. You should be at the point in your life where you shouldn't care what people think
ОтветитьHarley Davidson (HD) supported America through world war 2, and followed this support during the depression that followed donating motorcycles to ex pat (great strategy move), hence a large following of there brand (regardless of reliable bikes and service). Since then HD and more importantly over the last 36 months have relied upon the American consumer and their naive approach to what is a motor vehicle or rather what consumer expect from hard earned income. "Its a HARLEY, anything else is crap". Hence there philosophy has shot them in the foot, and more than likely have the same demise as Holden Motor Vehicle Australia. HD needs to address what the consumer is needing and not what they think the consumer needs. Go Honda, Go Indian, Go BMW, anything other than a HD. NB What do HD and a Cattle Dog have in common, After a days run they enjoy a ride home in the UTE. UTE is Pickup truck for non US.;
ОтветитьI have a Goldwing too 2017 but I like all all kinds of motorcycles
ОтветитьI totally agree with what all you said!! I have owned many different brands before i bought my Shark! I honestly, i miss some of them. I love my Harley, but different bikes bring different experiences not found in other brands!! Actually im thinking about getting another yamaha xs850 triple!! I know alot of my Harley will take issue with that, but thats their problem not mine!! I love the sport of riding.... not matter what im on!!
ОтветитьYou meet the nicest people on a Honda
ОтветитьI always wear full protective gears all the time. Guys with "Harley Lifestyle" always made fun of me for that, so I don't think I'll miss that lifestyle.
ОтветитьI m going to do the same
ОтветитьI agree with you. I own lots of jackets, t shirts, hats, money clips, garage signs etc of another motorcycle brand that I will always support as well. I love their products and want them to do great as well. I picked up my 2018 tour DCT this year and I agree that it is the nicest motorcycle I’ve ever owned. And that is why I no longer ride my Indian Roadmaster.
ОтветитьMy story is the opposite of yours. I was a motorcyclist for 35 years then in 2013 I bought my first Harley. I still consider myself to be a motorcyclist because I don't do all those things you said. I just ride and sometimes I wear my Honda Goldwing shirts. I Have maybe 7 Harley t-shirts and a jean jacket and that it. Ride safe and ride what you want.
ОтветитьI don't mind who is riding what. I also think that for each circumstances we need different bikes. Let's say for the UK I would never ever choose Gold Wing but it doesn't make your bike bad as it can be perfect for the place you live. Same applies to Harleys. I enjoyed them when I lived in continental Europe but now on that island I don't need such a massive bike. But I still like HD... to some extend ;)
ОтветитьThis is an awesome video. I would probably be on a Goldwing if they had a dealership that was closer. As for bikes I have always admired bikes of all brands. Frankly years ago I used to look down upon Harley's and call them junk. Where I live the only dealer here is a Harley dealer and this is a hardcore Harley town. Most of them are sporting the beard, wallet, do-rag etc. Sure I have a Harley jacket, couple of T-shirts and hats but I don't buy into this hardcore following. It isn't who I am. I'm am not a "tough biker", I am a motorcycle rider who loves bikes and riding. Even my closest friend looks down upon other bikes and even came out saying if I bought one of those gay Goldwing's he wouldn't want to get seen riding with me. I don't understand all this hate for Goldwings in the Harley world. I think they are just envious of a good bike. One of these days I can see myself taking one out on a demo ride. I did have a '15 Road Glide that I sold a couple of years ago to buy a Yamaha FJR. While it was an extremely fast great handling bike it was lacking in the comfort department and riding it would give me neck pain. (the joy of getting old) So I ended up selling it and bought a '20 Street Glide in January as an impulse buy. I also have a Super Tenere adventure bike I ride but it is too crowded two up with my wife. It is funny watching the reactions of the Harley crowd up here. If I am on my Yamaha pretty much none of them will wave. If I am on my Harley it is another story. The pettiness of it makes me laugh. I did notice as you did when I first sold my Road Glide that feeling of not belonging anymore. You do feel the loss of that Harley family or whatever you want to call it.
ОтветитьI’m the same way. Got tons of H-D stuff and I’ll wear it on my GW
ОтветитьJust discovered channel... Bravo!
ОтветитьMaybe we need one of each
ОтветитьTry on some Goldwing gear :) Curious if you have ever ridden a new Indian bike yet ?
ОтветитьWell you now on the best touring motorcycle in the world hands down
ОтветитьWearing HD clothing while riding another bike brand or vice versa is like a dog walking on its hind legs, it can be done, it just looks funny.
Ответитьwho was it that decided you cant wear Harley Davidson Clothes while riding a Honda Goldwing? You bought those clothes to wear, so wear them and advertise your harley roots and your brand loyalty, so someone will go buy a harley cause ya get to wear harley clothes... And look cool, Now dont forget your Do-Rags and wife-beater shirts....Oh did you shower on a regular basis? I mean you were a harley rider.... LOL just go and enjoy riding A motorcycle who the hell cares what anyone thinks Oh wait are you afraid you will offend someone????? Get over it!!!! have fun laugh n live.. Turtle
ОтветитьI went into an HD dealer long time ago. I was very interested in the V-Rod. After spending some time at the dealer and listening to some older guys talking, I came to conclusion that HD will not be for me. I saw few V-Rods in the parking lot and most of them had extra aftermarket front lights. The reason was, the headlight on the V-Rod had very poor lumens. A company like HD can not even design a good single headlight, that is poor performance by itself. Moreover, the motor shaking, the heat on your legs while stuck in traffic not even on a very hot day, the stupid mechanical issues just could not make me be a customer. I do see where you are coming from on the GW. I just moved form K1600GA to 2020 GW DCT Tour. Both are amazing machines, however the reliability and comfort of the GW is simply unmatched. The tech and engineering of the Honda, many bike companies should learn from them. I did and do now !!!!
ОтветитьHarley makes awesome bikes, but so do all the major manufacturers lol. I've owned bikes from Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha and Harley. No Suzuki, Indian or Triumph yet, but we'll get there eventually. I currently ride a V-max and oh my is it an experience. I don't think anyone should limit themselves to a single style of riding until they have at least experienced what everyone has to offer. For me, Harley Davidson offers the most enjoyable riding experience. I love the rumble, the style and the simplicity.
I'm actually in the market for a new bike. Love my V-max, but I need a bike that isn't actively trying to murder me every time I twist the throttle haha. Not really sure what I want honestly. I'm looking at Road Kings for the time being. Would love to consider a 2018+ Goldwing but I can't responsibly afford one atm and the other 1800's are too big and slow for my current tastes.
In regards to the whole Harley "lifestyle" thing... If you're on two (or hell, three wheels lol) you will get a wave from me even if I don't end up getting a wave back! Waving to scooters is always a funny experience. Thanks for the video. I appreciate the perspective and pretty scenery.
Well it doesn't matter to me what you ride. Your the one paying for it. I ride a HD and I love the culture.Everywhere we go people come up to us. Don't think you have that with other brands. I think a lot of it comes down to patriotism
ОтветитьFair point, riding a bike is about riding, not trinkets. You pay hard earned money for something you enjoy, be it a Honda-made bike or Harley-made jacket.
ОтветитьThis is a perfect explanation, I feel like these are my thoughts, lol. But I never bought the shirts, lol. EBAY! Those shirts will sell according to a guy I work with. I think HD is kind of like a cult, where they suck you in, we gave money and more money, just to belong. Those that made high dollar engine upgrades to get their bike to get it to a high performance state, when in actuality, they could have bought a Wing, had the the power stock, plus the handling to boot. Great video!
ОтветитьNothing wrong with it Harley I just like my F6B better LOL
ОтветитьI never understood the "Harley Davidson" lifestyle anyway. I mean, it's not like every HD owner is a 1%er. Owning a HD didn't automatically make you a "tough guy"..lol. I've never tasted the HD kool-aid so...I dunnol I've owned a Ducati, a Honda, a Kawasaki, a Triumph and I've enjoyed each of them. Def more of a motorcycle lifestyle. The Goldwing sounds great, by the way.
ОтветитьI would say that yes, you have left the HD lifestyle. That is neither a good or bad thing. If there is 1 thing that everyone has to give Harley credit for, it is marketing. They are simply the Masters at selling the "lifestyle" along with their bikes.
I fully agree with not getting rid of all of the Harley gear just to spend loads more money replacing it. You can still love their designs and ride something different.
I didn't realize until I bought my Goldwing that they specifically have a very loyal fan base too. The first Goldwing rider that I came across while on mine in a parking lot talked me to death. Well him and his wife did. Like to have never got away but it was cool.
Man i went from a Buell to a BMW, and now considering either a Honda Goldwing or CanAm Spyder RT Limited. .. not sure which i may go for - price will probably determine for me... but lots of riders including Harley riders wave to me on my BMW and yet some Harley riders won't for some reason. I never figured out why but never cared. I don't let what i ride make me who I am as a rider or not, i.e. I don't need any thing to make me me.. To me it's not what you ride as much as you ride attitude. I have a Harley jacket and gloves and helmet that i had since my Buell but moved towards more hi-viz stuff since then because of the safety factor.
ОтветитьMy opinion is that it doesn't matter what you really ride. as long you're out having fun meeting new people. In writing to new places. That's all that should matter. I own the fat boy I had a Boulevard. And a Goldwing. If it matters to the people what you ride then maybe you shouldn't hang out with them find new friends. Just be happy what you're writing on.
ОтветитьI still wear my HD jacket and gloves. They serve a good purpose as riding gear. That said, when they wear out I won’t rush out and replace them with other HD products. I use an HD trunk bag. It’s good quality and fits my Honda GW TourDCT luggage rack perfectly. But I will likely not ever buy another piece of HD clothing. Don’t feel the need to overspend and advertise for HD.
ОтветитьI wear my victory jacket riding my goldwing. My motor guzzi jacket riding my victory. I'm a motorcyclist, ride what I like not what others think. My Harley friends tell me I'm not loyal. I see them come and go over the years. I bet they still wear their t shirts. Lol
ОтветитьDoing great 👍 good vid
ОтветитьI had Harley's my whole life too and I rode tested a Honda goldwing touring dct and I traded in my Harley for a Honda goldwing touring dct and I love that bike. Years ago I did own a Honda vtx 1800 and I should have kept that bike ,but the dct blows all my bikes away. Later Hades
Ответитьgreat topic
ОтветитьHarleys for almost 40 years, but never into the lifestyle, the only shirts I have owned were the free ones buying a new bike, couldn't stand that shit. it was all good until I rode a 2019 goldwing, that changed it all, I will never look back
ОтветитьI have been riding HD for 17 years, currently own two HDs. I owned Honda and Kawasaki in the past, but moved away from Honda when a weld broke on my Goldwing and almost resulted in a bad accident. I am considering an Indian Challenger for my next bike, but prefer to buy American at every opportunity. Ride safe! Great video!
ОтветитьI have those same gloves. Hey I ride DR650, owned a rebel 250, and will ride any bike to try it out. I love my Street Glide but partially because of the ability to customize Harleys and make it my own. But I don't care what you ride as long as you ride for the right reasons. Good Vlog!
ОтветитьSeems like most of the comments are from people that don't ride a Harley. At least not anymore. We are the opposite. Had always owned Japanese motorcycles and in 2018 purchased an Ultra Limited, our first Harley Davidson. Really liked that bike and it fit our needs better than anything else out there. Earlier this year, made the mistake of test riding a Road Glide Limited, which is what we own now. I must say, I absolutely love riding the 2 Harleys that we've owned! And yes, we do have a lot of Harley shirts and jackets. Lol Am I strictly Harley? Absolutely not. I am for riding motorcycles, whatever brand that may be!
I looked but didn't see it. Have you made a comparison video between your Road Glide and the Goldwing? I know they are 2 different style bikes but I am very interested in your opinion of the differences. Most people tend to only like what they own at the time. It's hard for people to say what I use to own does this better but not that.
Great video!
Harley lifestyle/culture? We are all just bikers. Shame so many don't see it that way. Perhaps it's more segregated in the US? In the UK, even at Harley/custom shops where there are meets there will be more Japanese and Euro bikes there than Harleys.
I just don't get it, not saying it's wrong, I just don't understand it - wearing Harley gear while riding a Harley is like people who buy matching one-pieces for their sports bikes, buy a GS and all the Motorrad gear, or wearing the band's t-shirt to their gig. I actually find it quite amusing... biking isn't a fashion/brand statement it's about so much more. Wear what you like, ride what you like, how you like, biking is about freedom of expression and choice, not trying to fit into a 'lifestyle' or 'brand' identity. If your choice is to buy wholly into a brand, then that's OK too, I just don't get it.
You miss so much if you only fixate on a single brand. But then I have a reputation of riding anything with 2 wheels...
Just my opinion and mine alone, I don't expect people to agree. We are all individuals.
I might be an odd ball here, but I've never ridden a Harley. Until I got my Scout, I had only ridden Japanese bikes, well I did ride my brothers Triumph once. I've been thinking about getting a touring bike, and Harley is on the list of possibilities, but so is the Goldwing and the BMW K1600b. Great topic!
