yeah, I'd like to hear your comments on the quality of those red fuel filters. Others are claiming they are absolute junk compared to a paper gravity filter in regards to filtering quality!

I was in Lowes yesterday (10/25/21) and they had over 50 used generators stacked in the garden section (Craftsman, Generac and Firman) All looked new, some still in boxes that were opened and they all had the gas cap off and you could smell gas. Many of them didn't have the wheels installed. Some had tags on them that said WOULD NOT RUN.
Was wondering if they were sent out to help with Hurricane Ida help by Lowes and then just brought back.

I see these selling brand new for $3800. Pull start, no bells and whistles. I'm stumped as to why anyone would buy a generator like this for much more than $800 new. I picked up two with electric start and remote control (one missing carb) for $250. I had to replace both carb from Amazon and ditch the remote. Both ran perfect after minor surgery.

James, I actually just picked up the same generator for $80. I wish it was as easy of a fix though. It required a rebuild, to what extent I am not sure yet. Thank you for mentioning it shares the engine with some others. Titan does, in fact, still stock some parts on this. I reached out and asked, however they are $$$. The Generac GP 7500 series have several models. Is there a specific one that matches the Titan or are they all the typical honda clone? I appreciate your assistance and knowledge! Sourcing parts is the biggest pain.

Hi James, I watched mostly your videos and all of them are problematic motor, so in your opinion what is the best generator for you, for me I prefer to assemble my own generator a seperate motor from the dynamo.

Also shouldn't my 8000 Titan generator have a manual choke like you show on the video mine just got the throttle adjuster that goes from choke to run

This is funny, it's a 7400 watt continuous generator, but it seems like the circuit breakers aren't enough to let you access 61 amps.

Great video, Had a similar problem with the same machine that hadn't run in several years, disconnected the oil sensor wires and it started after a few pulls

Should have swapped out that solenoid while you had the carb apart.....that thing will probably backfire once fully up to temp and then shut off.

I bought a Titan 9000ES brand new about ten years ago during a bad ice storm. Anything you can tell me about the quality of the machine and type of motor. It has given me good service the few times I have needed it. Last time was three days last week. Thanks for the very informative video.

Your mentioning the choke seeming to be stuck on reminded me of when I was asked to look at a generator which had been loaned to the local scouts (a more undisciplined bunch of louts could never be found) and had been returned not working properly. It would start but ran slowly and wouldn't regulate. After a lot of fiddling around, I realised that one of the louts had managed to push the throttle control so far around to the "fast" setting that the control arm had become stuck behind a limiting arm and the throttle was so far on, that it was actually almost "off" again. After a lot of trouble, I finally managed to free the control arm and get it onto the correct side of the limiting arm, which solved the problem and got the generator working correctly again.
(This was a pretty large generator, of around 12k watts or more at our country's standard 240V)

Hi James, I have a small Champion model 42432. 1800/1400 watts. I am getting fuel blowing bout if the carb. I took the valve cover off and adjusted the valves gap. Still blowing

ive got the same generator as you, mine will run up just fine but it wil not output any power, the on/off switch on the side flickers, dont know if that means anything

I'd love to work on and sell some old power equipment, more for something to do, and not necessarily as income. I saw you spent $70 for that generator and I've never seen anything priced like that locally. I went onto my local craigslist and chuckled when I found that most sellers were asking full new retail for their used generators. Even generators that had fuel leaks and carb problems were listed at what I could order them for from home depot or amazon brand new. I guess I'll have to stick with side-of-the-road discards for the time being. Great video though, thanks for the content!

I've just got my Titan 8500 generator working today.
I have never seen a spark plug that was completely open. I took out my plug and tried it with the plug wire on it. Nothing was going through it. But when I held the wire close to ground it would jump fire to the block.

I’m not sure why. But I believe they hire Neil Armstrong to torque the main jets on all small gas engine carburetors.

Original comment from the other person said... would only run on starter fluid...... so... something was blocking fuel. If it ran on starter fluid... than spark plug wire was fine.

I ran across this older video because I just bought one of these for $50. It doesn't look aa good as this one but just needed new gas and the tank cleaned. I was hoping to see how clean the power was

Add a petcock drain on the carb and lose the emission kit on the carb. That junk will make it hard starting.

Just worked on one of these, one of these. The green ground wire terminal popped off the switch inside the panel.

Ive got one of these...works fine on 120v But when I use the 30 amp it falls on its face. Never shuts off just kicks out of high idle and stops generating. Scratching my head.
