I really like the way you convey music theory. Thank you!
ОтветитьMichael, why do people like me (a "minority" lol.. puns) strongly dislike the sound of major triads, or finishing on a major tonic note?
I don't mind the major 3rd interval if other harmonic things are happening.
Just seems weird that the so called "happy" triad sounds so noticeably annoying to me.
Finishing on a C in C major sounds so annoying too. I don't understand it.
Its like someone feeding me a bowl of wet bread. But it seems lots of people like wet bread, and its a foundational component of cooking. Maybe you could do a poll, "what sounds best to you personally?":
- Major triad,
- 5th Interval
- Minor triad,
- bowl of wet bread Octave.
Poll: Or what sounds worst to you personally? (There is no wrong answer!)...
- E+F together
- E Major chord
- E+A# together
- E Minor chord
It would be very interesting to see the distribution! Cheers, keep up the great work.
You're an excellent teacher. Thank you. Would you do tutorial on a long run with 1 or 2 cool patterns that can be played in between chords. I can't get past playing a straight pentatonic run. I see other piano gurus teaching long runs and fills but they don't have the gift of teaching like you do so they don't explain things well leaving me confused.
ОтветитьAs a guitar player, I never thought power chords could be played so beautifully! 🥲
ОтветитьThe lesson is insightful, but there is no way people can understand that first sentence — and a few more throughout — on a first listen. It'd be great for you to work on that dictation in order to grow as a communicator.
ОтветитьSO helpful! Thank you!
ОтветитьFantastic video. Now that you have deconstructed what you are doing, I can see why your arrangements sound so good. You are not sticking to 1-3-5-7 for the chords, you are adding 9ths 11ths, and even some altered notes. Also, I had been avoiding consecutive seconds like the 9-3-11 you use. This really expands the sonic palette. Invaluable information. Thank you. One question; if there is a melody, do you usually keep it in the highest notes of every chord?
ОтветитьAnother great lesson. Thank you so much for sharing this great info/insight.
ОтветитьI mean, this is an eye opening video with so many "Aha" moments, that is at least to me unreal. I have seen so many videos on this topic. I am many years guitar player, learning piano in my 40s and this pace, topics and flow of this video is just amazing. Never seen better teaching videos on piano. Thanks.
ОтветитьVery helpful! Thanks!
ОтветитьThanks so much for rejuvenating my interest in the piano and just having fun.
ОтветитьWith which of your videos (if there is an appropriate one) would you start someone who doesn't really understand harmony? I studied enough (on paper, fifty-odd years ago) that I could, say, figure out what notes would be in a Bb half-diminished chord or calculate the replacement notes for negative harmony, but I don't have an innate sense of how they go together or how one chord seems to want to lead to another one. Where would I start?
ОтветитьLove the coloring book analogy.
ОтветитьGreat video. I'm a beginner and just love all the wonderful variations and the beautiful sounds you are creating.
Thanks for this wonderful video....!!! 🤗🤗🤗
So im a semi gigging guitarist and this video allowed me to transpose and fall in love with the piano 👍
Ответитьone of the best piano video I ever seen thanks
ОтветитьThis can be used as talk music when preacher preach as background 😊it is perfect!
ОтветитьEvery time I watch one of your vids I get awfully homesick? Also must compliment your easy style of instruction and how much information you pack into your content. Rule Brittania. Nice one Michael. Cheers
ОтветитьMy very first viewing of a Michael Keithson video and.... Wow! That's all, just WOW! Thanks for being there, here, with us.
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьSubscribed! And, I’m going to go unsubscribe to some other junk!
ОтветитьI’m loving this first ever video I have stumbled on many thanks
ОтветитьWhile the key is C (based on it being the first note played in the progression) was the Am in this case intended to be in scale or the relative minor as a chord substitution? Im not sure of the top of my head, if the A notes position would be minor sounding in the CMajor scale.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing sir.
ОтветитьFantastic! Thank you!
ОтветитьVery educational and informative. Fantastic ❤
ОтветитьHELPS ME SO MUCH TY
ОтветитьI switched from triads to octaves... the effect is MIND BLOWING. THX³
ОтветитьBest piano video I’ve seen yet thanks, it helped me alot.
ОтветитьVery inter-resting!!!
ОтветитьThanks, I could finally connect with my melodies...
ОтветитьGreat video in 5 minutes took my theory to the next level finally.
Thanks!
Wow, it's inspiring! Playing the individual notes, according to the scale, means there is no need to strictly limited to remember which chord to play.
I always just follow the chord, maybe adding some passing notes
But stupid normal low IQ listener want to here stupid triad and 4 chords stupid songs 😂
If you play something good and sofisticated, idiots think, you cannot play and you are just messing around and faking pianists play.
This is exactly what I wanted someone to explain to me. Thank you so much.
ОтветитьOkay.. I'm gonna subscribe now
ОтветитьAbsolutely outstanding, Michael!!! That is the best outline for enriching the way to use chords I have seen online!!! Thank you so much!!!
ОтветитьHi Michael, your videos are exceptional and I would like to learn more from you. Do you have an online course or do you provide online lessons? Please let me know.
Ответитьamazing lesson ..subscribed to your channel...really enjoyed
ОтветитьJust what I needed to step out of my standard chords playing... Thank you.
ОтветитьI'm learning a lot, but I'm surprised how much I'm moved by the "throwaway" demonstration music. Great stuff all around!
ОтветитьExcellent video buddy.. learned more in one video than alot put together
ОтветитьWow just wow, as a beginner (2 years now) this concept has not been explained to me by my tutor, all I must learn is straight forward reading with no soul and heart.
ОтветитьThat electric piano you are playing sounds beautiful. Is that a Nord? If so are you using the stock sounds or is that a plug-in?
Ответить
