Retire in it's root word means to draw back from life. No wonder people who focus on and do "retire" don't do anything of consequence.

Financial independence creates freedom and choices. If you are unable to work tomorrow do you have enough? I completely disagree with this woman. She has clearly never been poor.

I listened for the other perspective of my thought process and yes index funds make sense for the majority only because it takes a lot of time and energy to pick your own portfolio and manage it. Many have and can beat the overall stock market easily.
