My grangran has had 3 carambola trees on her backyard for as long as I remember.

Will never understand people who cut the acid edges. It's my favorite part.

Oh damn!!... I follow you on TikTok. Recognized the voice!. Do you sell the trees? If so, how big & how much? I'd want something that would produce relatively soon. Can drive the 2 hours to pick up.

Wow! This is the joy of living in Florida! Your video is so informative. Thank you. I get mine from the Thunderbird swap shop in Ft. Lauderdale. You can find people bringing produce from their back yards. From exotic aloe, aiki, ,kenep , and Mabi bark. You and your son should do some rural Florida videos together. That would be fun to watch for a lot of us urban people. Anyway please do a nice long video on your back yard. It looks so interesting. Btw, is star fruit a citrus?

The star fruit I had years ago fruited in spring and fall on the gulf coast 9B. The spring fruits were tangy and the fall fruits were sweet. I’m assuming it was from more rain in the summer months or it got more sun in the summer.

Great video. We had no idea Star Fruit did so well in Mid Florida until one day we were walking out dog and stumbled on a beautiful, majestic tree just burting in fruit. Just bought my wife one for our yard for Mother's Day.

One thing I want to point out is per the FL Extension agency, "Arkins" were the first cultivar brought to FL and they consider them only second to "Kari" in terms of quality and flavor. The main variety in the grocery stores I believe are "Gold Stars".

I have quite the history with these. When I was a kid I was treated to huge deep orange colored Carambola fruits at a local Asian Market. The absolute greatest I have ever had. When I lived in Georgia I remember paying an arm and a leg for yellowish green (tasteless) fruits at Publix lol. But had to get my fill! I also recall my rural Ky elementary school (in like 2008) getting a box of them in and were given to us, something about letting impoverished kids experience something they otherwise wouldnt. Was very cool and we all liked them.

I just ordered a red thailand star fruit tree online. I can't find any info on google about a red colored star fruit. So I was wondering if you have ever seen or heard of them before? In your opinion what is the sweetest variety of star fruit? All the ones I have gotten from the grocery store here in So Cal tasted bland with a mild fragrance.

Hi Pete, I too live in central Florida. My neighbor gave me a small starfruit tree and its doing great. I did how ever plant it in full sun and it is not shaded from the wind. My bad! I do have a question. Do you buy the starter plant from a nursery or do you start from seed? Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.

My starfruit tree flowers and set tiny fruits yearly but for some reason it drops all of it. The flowers and the immature fruits. It’s 4 years since I bought it. I have not had any fruit from it. It’s supposed to be a kari variety. What is happening to my tree?

You can make them fruit several times a year by bending the younger growth branches until you feel a slight crunch and the tree will send hormones that cause flowering. Had huge back to back crops!!

Do you have a nursery you recommed for getting starfuit trees? Also I have been looking into growning fruit trees and expecially keeping them small. What I have learn and "drawf" tree means accually very little it only means it might be smaller than the original so if the original is 20ft tall your "drawf" could be 18ft without purning so that might be a Draft Hawaiian.
