I never made a baking soda volcano as a kid. Instead, what we would do is put a little vinegar in an empty film canister, add baking soda, close the lid, shake it up, then throw it before it popped off. That was hours of enjoyment.

Usually if you can taste the baking powder, you've used too much regardless if it's the alum kind

Also with cookies. White sugar is neutral where brown is slightly acidic. Using white your cookie will spread more with a crisp edge, with brown it'll puff more

If you had simply titled this what is baking powder then I would have watched it. There is no need for the vulgarity of the title you chose.

Alum is neurotoxic. Its free ion, Al(3+) (aq), highly biologically reactive and damages essential cellular (neuronal) biochemistry. Aluminium accumulates in the brain with age aka Alzheimer's disease; Autism spectrum disorders, Toxic adverse health effects are just wonderful part of the US hustle of buy buy your life away.

This is very interesting to me in the states. We are not happy with our government department of foodstuffs that does testing on food coloring and additives put in our foods. Europe he's done much better at natural food than the USA. We seem to have to many poison allowed in our food here. Thanks foe sharing this explanation.

BOY O BOY! This video shows how the young generation spent too much time playing video games instead of playing outside. instead of paying attention to their household chores. Explaining the difference between powder and soda to his generation? WOW! Tom Brokaw was right. Dumb! He doesn't realize.

I liked that smart advertising card for baking powder is just like having a n letter in the kitchen doing slave cooking as in the good old days. Many factory jobs in the world today are far worse off than pre civil war america n letter full board, no pay workers. It was the discipline that made it work. Look at what happened without it : jails running out of space to house all them idle, uncivil, rapping n letters.

That book is so inacurate historically it was not just enslaving any human being that baking powder replaced in the kitchen, but instead only n letters as shown in the cartoon.

I wish you had gone more into the fact that aluminium sulfate is safe to ingest just so the crazy people out there know that just because it's got "aluminium" in the word, that doesn't make it toxic! It's important to fight the good fight against misinformation.

OMG!!! Before you said it, I was wondering if Alum powder would work. I used to get nose bleeding all the time when I was a kid. My mom taught me to swab alum powder inside my nose to coagulate the blood. She said it was an old Germanic remedy for bleeding. I remember getting the powder in my mouth and thinking it was sweet and tart, and tasted a bit like candy. When you tasted the baking powder, I instantly thought of alum.

Ironically, I did not know that Alum is a sulfate. I am 45 now, and am severely allergic to sulfates. I wonder if the Alum caused the allergy. 🤔 I wonder what sulfates I'm eating and don't know it.

Now you know why sometimes, your pancakes turn out better than other times. Why trying a recipe is important to make the perfect mini donut. The oil, needs to be right temperature, the batter room temperature and mixed at right time. It is like the string theory of a perfect pancake

I love how in depth you get, only to end with a mic-drop “that’s the point”, and nothing else.

It’s wonderful how effective it is compared to “say what you’re going to say, say it, say what you said”.
