So I’m not a dancer, I’m a drummer, but I really enjoy listening to these types of discussions to just see what kind of topics and concerns translate to different types of performance or disciplines. Good stuff, thanks!

Hi! How many times roughly would you say we can repeat the same movement in a choreography?
Thank you so much

Thank you Jasirah for this so interesting chitchat! I would add another tip, that for me should be a must: Know the style of the song you are dancing. It is not the same to dance a mejance, a baladi, a saidi or a drum solo. And this is a mistake that we make a lot (I have made it too) when we are a beginer. We listen to a song, we fall in love with it and we start choreographing it without knowing which style it is. And we finish up choreographing a baladi song with a lot of relevés, arabesques and turns that don’t fit in the style of the song. So when we choose a song, we must do our homework and find to which style it belongs and what are the “rules” of this style, the kind of movements we should not do, the movements that are more typical of this style… And that last thing could give us even more ideas and inspiration when we are choreographing.
