Bonus Free Kick Rule!!
ОтветитьNFHS changed the rule for formations 2 or 3 years ago. You no longer need to have 7 on the line. You only need to have at least 5 on the line, numbered 50-79 and no more than 4 backs. Regarding crack back blocks, those are legal as long as they are made with open hands. You can teach your players to have their hands open, palms facing the opponent and can make the block, even with forceful contact, legally. Regarding the coin toss, I teach Rule 3 to new officials and I specifically talk about preventative officiating on the coin toss. What I tell them is to recognize when a team may be giving an incorrect choice, to ask them if what they really mean is defer. For example, team wins, they say they want to kick, you ask, you want to defer correct. In addition, when a team defers, my question to the other team is, you want the ball, correct.
ОтветитьI am not understanding you would better show their definition on screen
ОтветитьMe a wr half the size of the de who I pancaked
ОтветитьI don't think that punt return rule is correct. When the punting team touches the punt, the ball is dead, and the receiving team gets the ball at that spot. If the receiving team touches the punt, it's a live ball, and anyone on the punting or receiving team may take possession of it.
ОтветитьWhen me and my hoodlum friends are watching a game on tv, I make it real simple.
If you can see the offender grabbing the jersey, actually having a grip on the jersey, OR the offender has his arm wrapped around the opponent, he’s guilty.
I am a rules guy, and I HATE when someone asks a question about the rules, and several turds will start giving their opinion on what they think the rule should be.
Even worse are the turds, after having the official rule given to them in simple language, that continue to argue the point. They think their opinion is going to overrule the actual rule.
I need to take a nap. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
This great video. I LIKE how you listed them all by chapters, for someone like me new to Football. It will help me learn one by one separately,
ОтветитьWhat rule set are you referring to? If NFHS, not exactly correct on everything.
ОтветитьThanks for showing your top 10 rules. I am confused by the “Ineligible man downfield” rule on PUNTS. In the NFL, only the outside men on the punting team are allowed to run downfield before the punt. In college and high school, it appears to be a free-for-all, everyone on the punting team can run downfield immediately. Is this true?
ОтветитьCan't hit the QB's legs or above the waist because the refs need to protect their knees, head, and thowing arm. So just aim for their crotch and get flagged for an unsportsman. QBs are always "sliding" whenever a defender comes within 5 yards of them. If you look at a QB it's taunting.
ОтветитьAbout the holding penalty, sometimes I see it go from 1st-10 to 1st-20. Other times it ends up as something odd like 1st-7 or still 1st-10. Does it matter whether it's on a run or pass play, and the location where the hold occurs?
ОтветитьRule #7 might want to be rechecked. You started of by saying you need 7 "eligible receivers on the line of scrimmage" instead of 7 players one the LOS. There's a minimum of 7 players on LOS, in theory you can put 10 on the line and have just a qb in the backfield with the last man on either side of the line being eligible receivers as long as they are wearing the proper numbers.
ОтветитьGreat, Chris!
