Why on earth would anyone submit to a polygraph? Innocent or guilty, that polygraph will not help you. The detectives know it doesn’t work. It’s a prop used to intimidate you into confessing.
It’s up to them to prove guilt, remain silent except to ask for an attorney. Everything you say can be used against you, nothing you say can be used in your defense, that is hearsay. This alone should let people know not to talk to police. If they are talking to you, they believe they have a reason. That means you need an attorney.
I would even ask for an attorney if they came asking about someone I know.
