Geez, all I used to get better was an old broomstick handle and blue racquet ball or tennis ball. A couple thousand games on a one way street in Canarsie or any flat land we could find in upstate NY.

I look at bat rolling and PEDs with a very similar perspective. Not to the same degree of seriousness but why take a shortcut in the bat breaking in process. Because that's what it is, a shortcut to get to a hot bat. If you just work on your swing or your kids swing for those 200-300 swings to break in the bat there would be no reason to even consider rolling a bat because they would be that much better. It takes time to get bats hot just like it takes time to get ripped. But that's apart of the game.

Doesn't matter if there's real improvement or not, if you rolled it, it's illegal. But who's going to tell on you?

It takes much more than just rolling or shaving a bat. Now if you match good approach and proper mechanics with altering the bat, then yes, you will see an advantage.
