Such a testament to his personal strength and character to be this open and vulnerable to critics and audiences. Such an insightful person. I hope he writes a book

Teri’s and Donny’s physical assault wasn’t reported to the authorities and that was infuriating. It could have locked her up for years and not 9 months

Just saw the show yesterday night (I know, I'm late). At first I was (agreeably) surprised that the main character was depicted with such moral ambiguity, as he's kind of "responsible" for what happens to him. But today, when I discovered that it's a sort of autobiography, it all made sense !
As a victim of (less extreme) abuse myself, I know that we can let people hurt us multiple times, that we can feel sorry for our abusers (who aren't completely evil and suffered their share of abuse for the most part), that we feel tremendous guilt in sharing our pain with our loved ones, that we may struggle to properly define and embrace our sexuality when not straight... All those things that are so difficult to understand for people who haven't been victims themselves and were so brilliantly depicted in the show !
Many thanks Mr Gadd, I think your work is public utility and I'm very glad it was a hit in so many countries !!

I thought i was in for a comedy but it was so much more. I could really feel the rawness and honesty of emotions. It felt real so i wasn’t surprised that it was based on real events.
I also very easily found the real marthas twitter and stuff. She gave me the same unhinged vibes. So i do believe him.

Brilliant and honest interview. What a brave person, for anyone who has experienced trauma and at some point, wakes up and sees the long term consequences when you live with guilt and shame, this is a reminder. Freedom is on the other side of recognizing it’s not your fault. The things that happen to us are a matter of circumstance. How we choose to live is up to us.

I’m mindlessly scrolling through Netflix yesterday, and I hit this show. I look at the preview and I think to myself “oh boy I’m probably going to watch this in one day.” I just finished this show in 24 hours. Baby Reindeer hit different emotions in my body. It felt so real, the acting was spot on magnificent. My eyes, ears were glued to my TV screen. Well done. Well done. 👏

I started the series on Netflix while I was grabbing some snacks from the kitchen. I never watched the trailer, never read what the series was about and I even missed the part in the beginning where it states that the series of events were based on a true story.

I sat down and just started watching it. I was laughing at times, so intrigued, creeped out at some points, pissed off at others, hurt with feelings of being depressed and confused as to what was happening to me and why this series was so interesting, humorous and yet so dark?

Then the gut wrenching scenes played and my heart just bleed out, I cried so hard I was shaking and once I realized this was all based on true events, I fully understood that I had just watched a show that was absolutely brilliant, on every single level!.... Well done Richard, this was pure genius!....

Richard was so brave to share his story. I think this opens doors to remove the shame of sexual abuse which happens so much especially in the industry of young people who are eager to be successful. This was magnificent. I hope he wins awards for this. I could relate to so much of this especially confronting his abuser after he leaves his place. How the nervous system just goes into ptsd. Had my share of stalkers as well and it’s absolutely terrifying. I remember meeting this guy online dating and leaving as he was trying to come on to me in the parking lot. I had to pull over and throw up. Then when I got home he texted me. SAFE? Another sitting outside my house in his car watching me. Then proceeded to email me message me every way he could for months. I actually can’t believe I am saying this and it’s just the tip of the iceberg. Thank you Richard 🙏🙏🙏 This was such an emotional moving series that will stay with me. Fellow survivors appreciate you!

Its a good series, its fiction though. Check out the interview with "Martha" on piece morgan and judge for yourself. Its an easier sell when its a "real" story. Hence the description.
