I love this movie. One of my favorite movies

“Before Sunrise, but heavily under the influence of vodka.

What a brilliant film; a wonderfully unique road movie love story. It’s a largely Finnish look on Russian culture, it’s based on a novel by a Finnish author, it has a Finnish director and a Finnish protagonist. It’s fascinating and often quietly hilarious in its subtle nature.

It’s fundamentally about the same magical little encounter on the train as Before Sunrise, but it has none of the intellectual romanticism, these characters smell like cigarettes and booze and they often struggle to appear cool. Even the cigarettes aren’t as cool and sexy as usually in European cinema, they feel more realistically disgusting and poisonous, but no one really cares since it’s winter in Russia.”

definitely worth your viewing. this isn’t my kind of genre but i really enjoyed it.

Russia is shown in the film from the worst side, in any country you can find garbage, even in America. This is disgusting, again Russians are shown as drunkards, and whatever you write, go f@ck yourself with such films, the Russian Cinema Fund is hello to you, how could this be sponsored at the expense of the budget of the Russian Federation, I protest!

Wonderfully nuanced characters, which will surprise you. Great tension, humor, revelations about being open and curious.

I went into this knowing nothing about it. To be honest I thought he was going to assault her on the train in some way and I'm so glad it didn't turn into that movie.

Believe me, she is the weird one in this movie (the foreigner) and not the local Russian guy lol. Anyway, good movie with deep characters.

As someone who has a cultural background from both Finland and Russia, it felt very real... even hyperrealistic from 90's Russia. The emotional coldness of both main characters is characteristic of these countries. The rudeness of the lady working on the train is also characteristic of many, many Russians. If you want to truly dive deep into the emotional and cultural landscape of both of these nations, this movie is the absolute best for it! It was incredibly rich in subtleties and small details.

Travelled to Berlin just to Watch this Movie. Didn’t regret it! It’s my favourite movie now man!! Been a fan of Lost in translation for many years and this movie gave me the same feeling. It’s been super to watch. Not overly dramatic and lots of great shots. Highly recommend it! Haissta vittu! 😁

We Finns and the Russians have had throughout the history a weird but respectful relationship towards each other. I loved to see that put on the paper. I' we always wanted to understand the Russians more, and oboy what the mutual understanding would mean in the current world in general. I also think that we Finns are closer to understanding Russians than any other western country (because of the many clicks in the history). And this movie emphasizes the importance of being able to communicate properly.

It's a brilliant movie. If Anna Karenina could have lived happily ever after.

Absolutely wonderful movie. The pacing is so slowburn, and you get super invested in the main characters. The acting is brilliant, and the dialogue is so natural, really makes the hole inside of you feel less of a void.

I really liked this movie. Adventures in the knowledge of the Russian spirit by the sound of the railway and the snowy wind of two similar and simple people.

I am desperate to watch this film..But it seems unavailable to buy on DVD or stream??

I'm lucky that an AMC theater near me is screening this. Glad to see a major theater chain pick up some foreign-language films like this. Excited to see it.

Loved this movie! Akin to Lost in Translation in many ways. Two lost souls, never destined to be credible lovers, but deeply connecting for a fleeting moment when they both needed it most
