Chasing a Better Endgrain Joint

I have a bunch of 2x6" off-cuts from a construction project and I want to join them together to longer pieces to build a new work bench out of. I was inspired to do this by Matthias Wandel, who has an amazing channel full of really practical but ingenious solutions to many woodworking problems.
