Do you try to motivate your students? Or motivate the math? Eg the point of eigenvalues and eigenvectors is to be able to diagonalize

Ie most people hate math or don’t know/understand how to use it

Do you mandate students to address you by your last name (Prof.LastName/Mr.LastName)?

Also @BriTheMathGuy, are your classes written HW heavy, project heavy, or test heavy? What courses have you thought so far?

@BriTheMathGuy Had you knew about all of the training requirements, what would you have done differently?

I think the best part about teaching in a college would be that you actually get to teach when you're in the classroom. Teaching in a high school, sometimes 90% of your time in the classroom is management of behaviors. It's exhausting and spiritually draining.

Hi @BriTheMathGuy,
What tips would you give to those who want to better their chances of getting a full-time position?

Here is my experience, nothing was given to me. Important dates also not given to me. Me also getting in trouble for stupid things like not having a calendar.

Also me getting in trouble for giving out a open book exam. Also my boss not liking me and writing up fake reviews about me.

Do you have a master's or a PhD? I'm currently pursuing a master's in Biomedical Sciences and want to get into community college teaching, which I know often hire those with masters degrees. I currently teach at a trade college, but want to transition into the public community college realm.

If you can teach at public school at the AP level you can still enjoy the subject area as well as have more mature students. The compensation is usually better and employment is more secure.
