SEBI – The Regulator for Capital Market:

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is the regulatory authority responsible for overseeing and regulating the securities market in India. SEBI ensures that the capital markets operate in a fair and transparent manner.
Depositories:

Depositories are institutions that hold securities such as shares, bonds, and mutual funds in electronic form. They facilitate the transfer of securities between buyers and sellers by maintaining the ownership records.
Depository Participants:

Depository Participants (DPs) act as intermediaries between the depositories and investors. They provide services such as opening accounts, dematerializing securities, and processing transactions.
FII - Foreign Institutional Investors:

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) are investment funds or entities that invest in the financial markets of other countries. They play a significant role in providing capital to emerging markets like India.
Credit Rating Agency (CRA):

Credit Rating Agencies assess the creditworthiness of issuers of debt securities. They provide ratings that help investors evaluate the risk associated with investing in bonds and other debt instruments.
Merchant Bankers:

Merchant bankers are financial institutions that provide services such as underwriting, loan syndication, and financial advisory. They are crucial in the process of raising capital for companies, particularly through IPOs.
Asset Management Companies (AMC):

Asset Management Companies manage the investment portfolios of mutual funds. They pool funds from investors and invest in a diversified portfolio of securities to achieve specific investment objectives.
NSCCL and ICCL:

The National Securities Clearing Corporation Limited (NSCCL) and Indian Clearing Corporation Limited (ICCL) are clearing houses that ensure the settlement of trades executed on stock exchanges. They manage the counterparty risk and ensure the smooth settlement of transactions.
Market Participants:

Market participants include all the entities that engage in buying and selling securities in the capital markets. This includes individual investors, institutional investors, brokers, and market makers.
Where to Invest? (Asset Class):

Asset classes refer to different types of investments such as equities, bonds, real estate, and commodities. Investors need to consider various asset classes when deciding where to allocate their funds based on their risk tolerance and investment goals.
