The year is 1821. Don Diego de la Vega is elected mayor of Los Angeles, eager to improve his beloved city. However, the city faces financial problems and his powers as mayor are not nearly enough to fight the rampant injustice. Nevertheless, Diego struggles to balance his dual identity, which is now straining his relationship with his wife Gabriella, who is not privy to his secret life. Benjamin Charbit has written or co-written numerous features, including Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre’s The Mustang (2019), Valérie Donzelli’s Notre Dame (2019), Frédéric Farrucci’s Night Ride (COLCOA 2021), Fanny Liatard’s and Jérémy Trouilh’s Gagarine (COLCOA 2021), Gad Elmaleh’s Stay with Us (2022), and Bertrand Bonello’s The Beast (2023). Noé Debré has written or co-written numerous feature-length screenplays, including Thomas Bidegain’s Les Cowboys (2015); Jacques Audiard’s Dheepan (2015 Palme d’Or winner), Yvan Attal’s Le Brio (COLCOA 2017 Critics Award winner), Romain Gavras’s The World Is Yours (2018), and Michel Hazanavicius’s The Lost Prince (2020). He first collaborated with Benjamin Charbit on the script for Héléna Klotz’s Spirit of Ecstasy (2023). Débré also created the series Parlement (2020), directing two of its episodes, and wrote and directed the feature film A Nice Jewish Boy (TAFFF 2024).
Director Émilie Noblet’s 2013 thesis film, Trucs de gosse, garnered several festival prizes in France. She served as director of photography on Léonor Seraille’s feature, Montparnasse Bienvenüe (COLCOA 2018), which won the 2017 Caméra d’Or in Cannes. Noblet went on to direct the pilot of Irresponsable and episodes of the TV series Demain si j’y suis and Loulou. She also directed the first season of Mental (COLCOA 2019), the TV Movie version of Loulou and the feature film Bis Repetita (2024). Director Jean-Baptiste Saurel is known for several award-winning short films, including 2morrow Far Away (2013), Aquabike (2015), and Retrosex (2016). His comedy Zenithal (2024), his first feature, was released in France this summer.
