Absolutely fascinating videos on your tank builds, especially this build, from my perspective your outdoing the King of DIY easily. 😂😂
I’m looking forward to the next video already, all the way from Edinburgh in Scotland 🏴
Adam, I really hope that seal holds, and you don't have to deal with any leaks. Props to your son but I wish someone with the same enthusiasm as you were helping you with that glass pane. After all that effort it would be frustrating to deal with leaks...fingers crossed but I am sure you will handle it like a champ... and that bird Reggie...LOL
Ответитьi just wanna hang out with this fella
ОтветитьOutstanding information. Thanks for sharing
ОтветитьI would like to see how you joined 2 panes of glass in the middle along the front window. Does the joint need bracing? Answer in video 😊
Love your videos!
Great job 👏
ОтветитьI was told a long time ago that if you have bubbles in the silicone, wait until it dries and use a syringe with a decent size needle and fill them while squeezing as you pull out the needle to back fill the entry hole. Not sure if it’s true or not though
Ответить👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
ОтветитьCan't wait to see this thing hold water love your tank builds cant wait to knock out my own one day cheers for all the wicked information and ideas
ОтветитьHey mate
Lovely build
Im going to make a 2100 L pond but it would be closer to 1700L probably once everythings in
After watching kaity cichlids video catching fish and yours i decided i would cacth my fish and get rainbow fish
But i kinda wanna get a bigger fish
Im getting 1 murray river turtle it will be about 10 centimeters or so when i put it in the pond
I was gonna get 2 but then i can't tell them apart so i really wanna get a bigger fish then some rainbows but i heard the bigger fish will be aggressive have you got any ideas for a big fish that i can keep by itself with some other smaller schoolling tankmates like rainbows and the turtle
Great video mate! low iron float glass, getting fancy! it should make the tank look really clear, I can't wait to see the finished result, you'll have to start collecting some large blue stone boulders and some big concrete square blocks for the background, just kidding but even with the blue stone and concrete blocks it's still a cool place to dive, plenty of marine life there that I was surprised to see when I went down for a look, it should make for a cool biotope 🙂
ОтветитьGreat job. Always fun to watch as you work through the challenges faced. All the best.
ОтветитьLOL, I bet your wife would be happy to hear say that.
ОтветитьBest plywood builds out there! Would it be okay to use 12.7mm float not tempered same type build there besides
2.43 meters long
965 mm wide
609 mm wide
Adore this series, thank you for another excellent episode!!!❤❤❤🪸
ОтветитьYou might also look into some of the ceramic coatings that may at least slow the rust
ОтветитьHey buddy, another great video, so informative. Look forward to seeing it stocked!!!
Ответитьthe rear and bottom has a waterproofing/epoxy over it. How do you clean this without it chipping/scratching off, as it looked like it was not perfectly flat (like a glass rear)?
Nice series BTW.
Dry sillicone does NOT adhere to new sillicone. You should have just scraped the bubbly wet sillicone off and caulked it again.
Ответитьman that looks so damn good! the more I watch your videos the more I want to do this.
I am not 100% sure how you get the glass square with the set it.
that stainless steel top brace looks amazing. would of been cool to see it rimless or Euro braced but better be safe and this looks amazing any way.
curious to see what the cost of the brace came out to.
keep the vids coming brother! I always get excited to see them pop up!
Wow, beautiful aquariums and that bird is amazing.
Pretty rare cockatoo, I believe!!!!
Keep up the Great work Adam!
Can wait to see it filled and stocked.
Another great video!
ОтветитьWhat do you think about reinforcing the other seams on a plywood tank like you did on the back, but maybe with a pvc fillet? Sort of like the newer water box and Red Sea tanks have armored seams to protect from blowing out the silicone
ОтветитьProbably the most interesting video yet for me as I knew little to nothing about metal bracing. I also like the fact you switched from bare feet to safety flip-flops (thongs in Aussie) in the workshop, keep up the good work! 🤟😅
ОтветитьMacher💪🫶💪
Lieber Grüße aus Deutschland
Another great project, love your videos.
Here in europe we can get aluminium bolts and nuts. They're not an off the shelf product though. I use them as part of a commercial greenhouse. Might be worth finding some firms that deal in commercial greenhouses and see what they say
Hey mate have ever built a full glass tank,? I used to build tanks with inbuilt Bio
/trickle filters on the back. Anyway great vid👍
I would have tested to force new silicon into that gap from the inside before it started drying.. Maybe some tape on the outside to have a little back pressure.
ОтветитьHi, love watching your builds! I am currently making a glass thickness calculator for rimless aquariums. According to my calculator, if you didn't have the steel frame on the top the glass would bow out more than 20 millimeters and crack, or barely hold. I mean on the long side. So my prediction is that you will probably see a bit too much bowing without a cross brace in the middle, even with the current steel frame. It would be really great if you tell us some of the data you found about bowing when you fill it up, how much bowing at what water level I mean, so I can get some data points on how the calculator corresponds to the real world. Good luck with the build!
ОтветитьFantastic video mate,,, appreciate your fine efforts to bring us along on this wonderful and educational journey. Look fwd to the end time when the fish are up and about.
ОтветитьWell done on getting to this point of the build . Can’t wait to see the finished product especially the fish selection.
Ответить🤞 good luck with the leak test!! Tank looks amazing
ОтветитьLooks great! 👍
ОтветитьThis plywood aquarium is looking great, what an inspiration! I only wish I had a bigger man cave👍😊
ОтветитьThis guy should coach basketball
Ответитьlooks like it wont be long b4 its done, cycled and get some fish for it :)
ОтветитьThis has been a great build and it’s inspiring for me to build my own custom aquarium. I want to use starphire glass with an external overflow. Hopefully that bubble silicone seal won’t leak but you can always go back and fix it. Good luck with the new build and greetings from New York City 🌃
ОтветитьThis is so good! I’m in the middle of building a tank stand and might go whole hog now and build the tank too…how do you decide on the thickness of glass and amount of bracing required? My tank would probably be 1700x600x700
ОтветитьHey mate great vid!
How do you sand or buff the corrosion on the bracing without polluting the water? Do you cover with a sheet? Thanks from sunny Logan
Another great vid.
Can you include a cost of a glass aquarium the same size at the end?
Also would it be cheaper to just buy two more pieces of glass and make a full glass tank?
🔥💯🙌🏻👌🏻👏🏻💯🔥
ОтветитьLooking fantastic Adam. That angle sure took some bending! My question is - why did you run a bead of silicone on the side glass panels before you installed the front panel? If there is a 3mm gap, could you inject into the gap after the front panel has been stood up? Up to you whether you answer in a video or not.
Ответитьfor what it's worth, probolt australia has aluminium bolts
ОтветитьLove your Channel. Made me laugh you and your son working together. Sounded the same as me and my son working together.
ОтветитьGreat videos. I am still working my way through them. I really liked the Palau Reef build and the natural environment of the turtle tank. Just a thought as far as coatings are concerned. Have you ever considered stove enamel. It is extremely tough and is available in a lot of colours. I have no idea of cost. It might be totally impractical, but I just thought I would mention it.
Regards
Bill 🇦🇺
Looks great, I know how it feels to put work into something and things are not perfect or how you imagined but you always figure it out. That aluminium was definitely overpriced 😅
Also a handy tip, get some small earphones and wear them under your earmuffs so you can listen to podcasts while sanding.. makes the time way better 🍻
Don't worry about how your shop looks. It looks like the rest of ours.
ОтветитьCan you use plexiglass/perspex instead of glass with the kind of build
ОтветитьExcellent video! You’ve givin me the the confidence I need to do a metal frame/plywood build!👍🏽
