The amount of human trash/filth/garbage waste lining the streets is as leaves in the Amazonian rainforest. It's almost ironic and insulting to see a city worker (wearing a vest) barely using any effort to sweep with what looks like a straw broom. If you want a clean city and world respect from other nations, why doesn't the government buy actual brooms, mops and sanitation equipment? It's clear there is plenty of room for employment/business space in the South African sanitation industry.
ОтветитьWhy are the streets so dirty
ОтветитьI want to buy a home in Africa but I am disappointed in my Africans for all the trash on the ground you must be clean not filthy
ОтветитьWow wow. God Bless Africa
ОтветитьDont underestimate I was held up at gunpoint by 6 people with guns at my car in daylight...people get shot for a phone....darkness is a no go
ОтветитьEverybody looks depressed
ОтветитьClear video❤, are you using your phone?
ОтветитьIt looks so empty. Where are the people?
ОтветитьSo much trash everywhere. It is an eyesore to watch this. Why does the city not clean this up. Ugh.
ОтветитьFailed state
ОтветитьYou have to confront your prejudices and fears if you are White and affluent and say shame on me. We were there two years ago on our own. We stayed in Kruger Gate and Cape Town. Even the poorest black people had manners and were friendly and had a smile on their face when they talked to you. This is more than what I would expect just walking around downtown in NYC or Chicago. The people dont look at each other and walk by each other without acknowledgement and certainly a smile. I come from Chicago and went to law School out west In Spokane Wa. Even walking the streets downtown you would look at someone, smile and say hello. It took me a full six months to put on my blinders when I got back home to Chicago. And we experienced the same thing when we went to India on our own. The people even the poorest, were nice, and many wanted to take our picture. This would be unheard of in the States. So like I say. Confront your own prejudices and fears.

Ответитьis it Hillbrow my family was there in the 70,s and 80,s from Holland.
ОтветитьThe amount of trash littering the streets of Johannesburg these days is quite scary. Who is responsible for removing the trash from the streets ?
ОтветитьI'm from Joburg....gone for many years and I must say.....it's a shit hole ....dirty as hell ...garbage every where.....and African woman are quiet on the heavy side ...the majority.....must be the porridge. Man it looks bad .....never want to go back. I'm from Melville Joburg and it's sad
ОтветитьIn the U.S. whenever an area in a city becomes "Black majority" the crime rates skyrocket. This same situation has plagued South Africa since the end of apartheid. Just speaking the truth.
ОтветитьThis is called Tropicalism.
ОтветитьDirty place shame
ОтветитьDid you place a camera on your body ? Or you actually holding your phone🤔
ОтветитьAh ! 😂 isn’t that me and my friend in the thumbnail
ОтветитьYou can see the reason for apartheid.
ОтветитьThe city is a health risk no one cares anymore about the city of gold.Too much population health hazard been there 5years it is stinking like a sewerage.
ОтветитьJo burg? Not the jo burg i remember from the 80s...looks like a trashed out war zone,go to Sandton..
ОтветитьLol, I remeber a few years ago when I decided to walk from the Carlton Center to SAB world of Beer on Moiriam Makeba's street. I was sooooo scared but in the end, a lot of worry for nothing. 😉
Now, I'm not saying Johannesburg is safe; just like Cape Town. I love walking around town, mostly alone but being a white person I am often the target of beggars or pickpockets. It's not uncommon to catch a hand in my pocket. In total, I count 8 robbery attempts and one phone gone. Be careful though, especially if someone distracts you or follows you too closely. Be extra careful at ATMs; especially at Park station for instance.
I feel much more at ease when walking with my black girlfriend; even if she's not the one who will defend me if something goes wrong 🙃.
In this regard, she told me the story of one of her friends who was attacked and stripped of her clothes near a taxi rand. People can be so desperate and you can even be killed for a 20 rand note.
In some places like Berea or Hillbrow, violent attacks sometimes take place: a stabbing or a bullet in the leg and then once on the ground, you are robbed; it's really sad.
Also be careful if you walk near Zoolake where we witnessed an attack in the park.
What I blame the city of Johannesburg for is this waste on the ground everywhere in the street; the smell can sometimes be very strong. If the municipality took the trouble to do a major cleanup, this city would regain all its charm.
And I would also like to say a few words about people in Joburg.
I find them very welcoming and the children particularly well educated; welcoming you with a "hello sir" when you pass groups of schoolchildren in uniform.
I particularly remember a rather elderly taxi driver who dropped me at Park Station who took time to tell me that it was better to avoid venturing on foot towards Joubert Park and what to do if I was in trouble (enter a building and go near a security guard if I wanted to use my cellphone, for example).
And this charming lady from the Rea Vaya Park station who wrote me on a piece of paper which buses to take and the connections to reach Soweto. She was surprised that a white tourist would take the bus to Vilakazi Street. 🥰
Nasty place
Trash everywhere
Looks like a nasty third world bazaar blocking the public sidewalks
Ferals wandering the streets in traffic
Lots of vacant office space proving the impending economic collapse
Burglar bars on all the storefronts
Trash piles in the street
Burned out storefronts
The place is an absolute dump. No wonder nobody wants to invest in the area.
The locals won’t even pick up their own trash and stay out of the street on the sidewalk where pedestrians belong
I used to remember walking as a child here it was so clean for that city now plenty garbage along the streets what a shame
ОтветитьYes I been told it is dangerous for white people
Ответить🦓We used to do window shopping in the evenings go to movies eat at a restaurant and go clubbing in the 80s all in the centre of Johannesburg !😇🙏🎭🌞🌈🕺⚡
ОтветитьI don't see you with a camera. I assume you are using glasses with a camera. What kind are you using?
ОтветитьPeople of South Africa ----- why has it come to this that a law abiding citizen have to fear for his life wherever he or she goes?????? What has become of our nation ?????? What happened that life has no meaning anymore???? Or friendship???? Or comradery????? Or love for peace and tranquility???? What has turned South Africa into this decay ???? Is it because of "apartheid" or the hate between black and white or is it just our gluttony to kill and maim each other????? Where is all this hatred coming from ???? What happened to honour and pride????? Why has this country been devided like this that we just want to hurt one another??????? Is it because the blacks hate the whites undeniable logig or our skin colour or what?????? Or why we whites resent the blacks because of their skin colour ?????? All of these statements can be contributed to the single biggest disease South Africa has ever known ------ the ANC
ОтветитьThe central government needs to do a restructure of the municipality system of governance from the present structure if they really want improve governance and infrastructures to get to South African citizens.
The present structures were designed and created by the old colonial people to suit their style and purpose of rulership/governance.
Watching this video, I can see a lot of potential, especially for private enterprise, if only the government will allow some restructuring.
There is so much conflicted interest within the municipality, district, and local, whatever they are called, which gives a lot of gaps for embezzlement, corruption, and waste of tax payer's money and the citizens are the one's suffering.
Seems these people in charge do not know what each other is supposed to be doing, each expecting the other to do certain things and the community's surfers when not done, yet the money's allocated are flitted away and the projects left undone.
do a video where you go inside some of the more scary buildings or the big ones on the street...so interesting to see how they are inside
ОтветитьWo sind die weißen Menschen die das alles gebaut haben
ОтветитьNotice the difference between Jewel City and rest of Johannesburg CBD? No infestation of certain hawkers who bring decay and rot everywhere they go
ОтветитьWhy do they throw the trash onto the streets? Horrible people.
