You just saved my fucking day dude. I'm starting a very physical job recycling tires this Monday and it'd be a 50 minute walk without this simple tip, I might be stupid for not knowing that the end twists on and off but I'm very grateful. My pump is so old, it doesn't have screw-on collars, so I used tiny hose clamps to secure the fittings at both ends. I was screwing in the fitting into the pump when the threads broke. (Maybe I had screwed it down too tight, or the metal was weak.) Now I'm looking for a replacement fitting of the right diameter, or a replacement hose with the right size fitting. It's a coarse thread, about 10mm in diameter, and it's been hard to find.
