Most the crap we drink locally comes from Burton with their iffy water - should have stuck to Bass
ОтветитьNot a rip off and wrong to call it so ,a blind bloke on a galloping horse coukd see the difference in the can .I have not seen cork and cage for years
ОтветитьThis is what you had at mine!
ОтветитьLeffe like other in Bev Budweiser products sold In Britain is brewed here because of the alcohol duties any beer over 5% gets hammered with tax so the worlds big 3 breweries brew everything in Blighty recently Japan Breweries owned Peroni went from 5.1% ABV to 5% but the price stayed the same the only decent beers sold in Britain today are either imported of Craft Breed
ОтветитьGreat review. Always try to pick up a beer after your reviews from Aldi. I used to like Leffe when it was the real deal so it was great to find something more authentic from Aldi rather than the Uk licenced versions of foreign beers. I like most beers, full-flavour or even light beers if they are the genuine article or brewed with a similar attention to quality.
ОтветитьI always enjoyed Leffe (Blonde and Brune), when Blonde went from 6.6 to 6.0 % I still enjoyed it although it wasn’t quite as good. I went for a while without drinking any and in the meantime got COVID for the first time a few months ago which has affected my taste buds. I’ve recently had three 500ml Leffe Blonde bottles and it was disappointing although I thought your 5/10 was a bit mean. I’m drinking my first can of St.Pierre as I ramble on, it’s definitely a nicer more interesting drink. I’ll have to buy a bottle of Leffe Brune which I don’t think has been changed for the UK to see if it tastes the same before I had COVID.
ОтветитьWe are deprived in the UK. I regularly go to Holland and in the supermarket's they sell a variety of leffe (at least 6)
ОтветитьLeffe at 6% is rotten
ОтветитьLeffe has never been cloudy! was the beer that got me into craft/belgian/german beers so will always have a soft spot for it. its cloyingly artificially sweet now, it used to be a much better beer! not tried they Aldi version, we dont have Aldi in NI. the Lidl version isnt very good though
ОтветитьSomeone told me Leffe is pronounced LEF-FE
ОтветитьI am currently drinking Aldi St Pierre and it is most definitely NOT cloudy. I agree it is certainly better than the 'new style' Leffe, but that is not saying much. Interestingly the Aldi I bought it from also had Leffe (6.0%) in both cans and 75cl bottles. But the Leffe was in the centre aisle, not the beer section.
ОтветитьLeffe is ale due to how it is brewed. I cannot see it becoming a lager.
ОтветитьAldi should open a pub chain , put Wetherspoons out of business. Only needs to sell its own gear.
ОтветитьLeffe is now a fake of itself! I thought it was me. It's my favourite beer and I knew something was off, and not just the strength. I had no idea about it being brewed here in the UK now. It's basically diluted now. I feel like I should have a little memorial service as I've lost a best friend! I actually tried Saint Pierre a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it but it was 2 quid a can so I've given it a miss since. I believe it's just dropped in price though I could be wrong. I till like Aldi's Reinbacher Wheat Beer though and it's £1.29 at the time writing for a 500ml bottle.
ОтветитьI bought a chain-saw from Aldi and got a four-pack of Leffe free with it. Just to start you off.
ОтветитьLast I looked about Five months ago the only one that AB InBev hadn't fucked up was the Bruin.
ОтветитьI'd puck Palm before ELffe any day of the week, if the brand was up front on the bottle/can.
Leffe - another ok Xmas beer, ruined by Inbev, who ruin everyhting for sheer greed/profit. They dont care about beer, its just a commodity to make cash.
I'm not sure it's fair to call St Pierre "an Aldi beer". I've had it in Sweden, and we don't even have Aldi (I bought it in our monopoly liquor store Systembolaget). St Pierre is brewed by Brouwerij Palm, so it's definitely a well established brewery.
ОтветитьThe canned Leffe is brewed in the uk by AB InBev which is why it doesn’t taste like the Leffe of old 😒
ОтветитьI’m in Belgium at the moment and the Leffe blonde is still 6.6%
ОтветитьI found the new leffe had a weird artificial taste. I won't drink it again. Not the UK brewed stuff anyway.
ОтветитьSt Pierre is lovely, used to be stocked in Aldi a few years back in big bottles with a cork and like leffe was 6.6% from what I remember. So they've reduced the avb for the UK too but personally I feel like it tastes more like leffe used to 😂
ОтветитьOne brewed by a brewer, one brewed by an accountant.
ОтветитьThe Aldi is more genuine than the new ‘fake’ Leffe - at least it’s actually brewed in Belgium!
Nice video.
St Pierre is a pleasure to drink. It's one of those beers you willing savour and happily hold back on until the time is right to enjoy it. I really like it. To agree with you, I was also was blown away with it's overall quality. It has a really pleasant depth to it's flavour, something the mainstream brands just cannot match. It's simply excellent.
Ответить"Leffe slowly zombifying itself into a lager..." Brilliantly put👍
Just seen that Aldi have some 750ml bottles of 6.5% ABV Leffe Brune Abbey Beer for £2.79 - although reported to be in short supply...
But will now be looking out for the St Pierre next time I am there. Thx
Picked up both St Pierre and Leffe a week ago from Aldi. The St Pierre was a treat whereas the Leffe was painful to drink.
ОтветитьI literally bought 2 bottles of Leffe on Saturday. I was so disappointed I drank half a bottle didn’t finish it. Lidl done a good copy but you can’t even find that now.
ОтветитьI immediately thought “fake Leffe versus Aldi Leffe”
ОтветитьThis and the Tripel Karmeliet both solid beers available from Aldi. The triple a little pricey at six pounds but a decent beer at 750ml well worth it.
ОтветитьI generally just stick to Duval triple or Chouffe now as they hit the spot like no other.
ОтветитьWhat I find with Aldi is that they introduce a product eg the san marco Spanish lager, crunchy peanut butter and probably this life too. It’s all good until it has made market impact then they roll back on the quality. The san marco is not how it was a few weeks ago and the crunchy peanut butter is basicallysmooth and full of oil. I wonder if anyone else has had this experience?
ОтветитьCanned Leffe is UK brewed, the bottles are still brewed in Belgium but both are at 6%.
ОтветитьSimon, you work hard to refine your craft. I will keep an eye out for that St Pierre.
Ответить8 out of 10
The same as you gave Black Sheep Blitzen Xmas beer.
Make it make sense!
There's no point rating anything if there's no consistency.
The big bottles of Leffe Brune in Aldi aren't corked and caged, they just have bottle tops.
ОтветитьHad a can of St Pierre last night, it really is a cracking beer ! 👍
Ответить"Discovered" the Aldi beer a few weeks ago and its gone right up their with one of my favourte to have in the house! I didn't even think it was a copy, to be honest, tastes quite different.
Give me the option to choose either, and it would be the aldi version... bravo 👏
Leffe used to have a haze
ОтветитьWhen are the live streams back mate?
ОтветитьHow on Earth do Aldi and Lidl always manage to give the big brewers a kick up the arse? Lol 😂 ?
ОтветитьStella original is shite. The unfiltered version is very nice. Leffe Blonde and Brune were absolutely second to none but now, personally feeling, both are thinner in mouth-feel and lesser in flavours! I will look out for the Aldi versions from now on 🤩
ОтветитьEverything in this country is being slowly castrated. Even beers
ОтветитьThe Aldi one is now better than the branded Leffe in the UK! I think Aldi still do thier Belgian beers in bottles with a cork as well, it gives a bit more of a sense of occasion at Christmas...Leffe has had a standard bottle top for about 10 years now!
ОтветитьWell done! I always enjoy.
ОтветитьI unluckily got into leffe just after it haf been reduced and i thought it was lovely untill i whent to Disney land paris and gound 4 xans in a shop and boom it was thr original 6.6% or 6.7% carnt remember now but my god it was delicious 😢 now every sip i have in the uk makes me automatically think of the obe i had there haha
ОтветитьLeffe is still 6.6% here in the land of beer, chocolate and chips 🇧🇪🇧🇪🇧🇪
ОтветитьI recently discovered your channel , and it has me looking at beers at a completely different way. I used to do a coupl of 7,5% supers and be happy , but now I start look at different flavours and tones of this and that.. I love beer , it`s like a passion to me and I love trying different ones I have never tried before. Keep doing what you do mate ;-)
ОтветитьLeffe now brewed in the UK. As you know.. = crap
ОтветитьI always preffered the brune ( dark) though ain't had it in awhile, and for me, it did taste like a nice crisp lager, not like say hoegarden Which i don't mind but was never that mad on,always thoughf it was a bit cider ish, to my uncultured taste buds anyway, if I'd wanted cider, i would've bought cider, and probably a dry 1...anyway
