I haven't heard this record for years...Thanks for posting!
ОтветитьI like this song. Who else recorded it? I was thinkin it was Lacy J. Dalton but I can't find any confirmation of that on the net. Anyone know?

ОтветитьA great version by David of the hit 'Darling' which seems to have comfortably spanned the Country and Rock fields when one considers the artists who have covered it. Would you be able to upload any tracks from David's album 'Farewell To The Ryeman',(Atlantic,1973) Wilbur, which was a nostalgic recording in relation to the former building of the Grand Ole Opry?
Ответить@Michinil As to the people that had country hits with it, David had the biggest hit. Tom Jones was 2nd, his hit #19 in 1981. Not sure if Lacy ever did it :)
Ответить@TheGarretdeas Hate to say it, but I don't have the "Farewell To The Ryman" album. Hopefully I'll score that sometime in the future!
ОтветитьGreat version; love it!
ОтветитьFrankie Miller was the orinigal, yes, no?
Ответить@littlejunior17 Thanks for the info! For some reason, I just keep hearing a raspy woman's voice in my head (like Lacy J. Dalton) singing this song. I must be wrong on that because I have not been able to find any women singing this song!
Ответить@0nlycountry Yes!! I remember! Barbara's great! Tom Jones covered it too!
Ответить@0nlycountry OMG I just realized you responded to a comment I made a year ago!! You answered my question!! Thank you! I KNEW a woman covered this song!! When I read Barbara Mandrell, it just clicked and I remembered! Then I remembered Tom Jones too! Thanks!!!
ОтветитьEven though David's tune didn't make the #1 hit...he did with me.Strange I was going thru my overly- vintage cassette tapes and I didn't name the artist...but once in utube...low and behold here it is! I nearly wore this tape out back then just listening to him and many of the other great artists that were around in the 70',80's and 90's. Thanks so much for listing it here!
ОтветитьThis is the original Country version of this song, it was released only as a 45 vinyl song in 1979 on the Republic label with the B side song "How Long Has it Been". The song went only to #18 on the Billboard charts. you guys are right, there have been many versions of this song, but David's is the original country version. It's so sad, because although David passed away in 1993, I think there's only 1 cd in print today, All of his music is out of print and only available on vinyl. So sad !!
ОтветитьIt was Bonnie Raitt an it was in Urban Cowboy along with some other great songs
ОтветитьYou may be thinking of Bonnie Tyler.
ОтветитьThank you! Yes!
Ответитьfor me... the best version ever|
ОтветитьThanks for your David Rogers songs. Any chance you have Let's Try to Remember from 1978? Been dying to hear that one :)
ОтветитьThe first band to record the song was British country band “Poacher” in 1977. The song was written by English sax player Oscar Stewart Blandamer. I am from Glasgow, Scotland and favour my fellow Glaswegian Frankie Miller's 1978 version
ОтветитьI want to buy this cut. Any suggestions?
ОтветитьAgain the best!!
ОтветитьEARTH ANGEL😇. I SAW THIS GENTLEMAN IN MANCHESTER, NH AT THE COPPER LANTERN. MET AND SPOKE PERSONALLY WITH HIM, AND TO MY SURPRISE HE WAS JUST AS OR!AAL AND FRIENDLY AS THE REST OF THE REST OF THE GANG!!👍😳🤔😉 MR. ROGERS, DROP ME A LINE IF YOU REMEMBER APPEARING THERE!! I MESN IT WAS AT LEAST AROUND 1980-ISH!!!!👍🤔
ОтветитьI love this song, Jay and came here just to share, didn't realize it was your channel until I started listening! Thank you having it here.
ОтветитьI adore this song especially by David Rogers. Bonnie Raitt done it justice too. A local band called Texas did it justice too.
ОтветитьHow could you vote thumbs down to this?
