How long do we stay paralysed. Pardon me after they woke me up from GA. And I was moved to my bed I could not move though hurting pretty bad. I could nor move my limps but head alone . Could you kindly explain it to me .
ОтветитьCan you awake but not have any pain and who is doing the surgery?
ОтветитьI was awake but the doctor knock me back out and also the staff have to be careful wat they say cause I heard everything
ОтветитьUuuuugh that’s something I have worried about … Do you have to get that medicine that you just described it… Or is it just for people to get aggressive when they go under
ОтветитьI’ve been told that you guys can see this with blood pressure and stuff I mean can you like feel pain when this is happening Would you see on the blood pressure the heart rate that we were panicked? Is there anything you can do to reverse it during surgery
ОтветитьBeen there 2x and remember it once but don't remember that. I'm super hard to be fully anesthetized. The last time I was under MAC and I bit the surgeon and kicked the anesthesiologist. So I was switched to GA
ОтветитьThis has happened to me. Fully paralyzed while awake and not yet intubated. My IV blew/infiltrated (I have a connective tissues disorder) as they were given me the paralytic and propofol. The paralytic absorbed through my tissue faster and the propofol didn’t. Ended up fully conscious unable breathe (I hadn’t gone to sleep so I wasn’t intubated). Let’s just say it was hell as I attempted to fight it and breathe (and couldn’t) all while the anesthesiologist was frantically trying to get a line straight into my neck (still took 6 tries, because, connective tissue disorder, which causes me to have very weak small veins) and omg it was one of the most horrifying things, but like, aside from the trauma it caused, I must admit it was kinda fascinating 💀
ОтветитьThat happened to me. Was awake while being intubated! Ugh! Now doctors use monitor to know when I am really asleep.
ОтветитьIt is absolutely terrifying by all accounts.
ОтветитьHad this happen once. They administered the succinol choline before the anesthesia. I was paralyzed!! I became terrified that they wouldn't figure this out in time, so the only thing I could still do was to let my tears fall until one of the nurses noticed. She was very kind & apologetic and within one minute, I was anesthetized.
ОтветитьHappened to me and in 2021, they O.D. with Anesthesia and had to bring me back. I was not the first patient this Anesthesiologist did this to.
ОтветитьYeah this would be called a lawsuit. How terrifying to be paralyzed yet fully aware when somebody’s about to cut on you. Emotional damage!
ОтветитьI know someone who woke up and they told gim he shouldn't be awake and put h back out
ОтветитьThank you for your service and dedication and Information please keep posting we need to know
ОтветитьThank you for letting me know
ОтветитьThank you very much for the video with kindness and respect for excellent explaining
ОтветитьYes this happened to my mother. She was highly traumatised by it too.
ОтветитьYes! I was asleep during a c- section and I was completely aware and I could feel everything! But I was totally paralyzed. I have ptsd from this and it keeps me from having a much needed dental surgery I’ve been putting off for years😢😢
ОтветитьI felt every bit of my c-section with triplets. I was screaming!! Next thing I know I was hallucinating….. (spinal)
ОтветитьI woke up in the middle of surgery when I was 6 years old. I’m 43 today so it was a long time ago. I couldn’t tell them but they definitely knew and things were chaotic while they got me under again. I remember the anesthesiologist telling my parents and being very apologetic to me and them. It was terrifying and I remember it all very clearly even after all of these years.
I’m a redhead and I was very anxious about the surgery so I’m thinking those things played a part.
I’ve had many surgeries since then and the last one was an emergency spine surgery a few days after another spine surgery because my disc herniated again and I had an abscess on the spine and meningitis. They told me after that one they had to use a lot more anesthesia than normal for me during that surgery. I’ve always been told they are surprised at how much anesthesia they have to use for me during surgery and I tell them before surgery that i have woken up during surgery and that I am always told they need to use more than they expect to but they always seem surprised at how much they need to use anyway,
It happened to me!
ОтветитьYeah. Was able to move eyebrows. Used 3 lifts of brows to signal anesthesiologist. Did that twice then he noticed. Placed his hand on my forehead to let me know he was aware. Thank God. Scary.
ОтветитьIt happened to me. I woke while they were cutting bone out of me. Horrific trauma.
ОтветитьI WOULD LOVE to be on an NMBA while No anesthetic agents are being given, or Analgesics! I'm a patient who's very familiar with the medical field, as I'm a chronic ventilator dependent patient! I've induced my own anesthetic state many times! I've always wanted to be on Vecuronium, or Rocuronium, or another NMBA while completely awake, with a complete block. NO TWITCHES!
ОтветитьYes it happened to me you hear everything feel everything but no pain and i tryed to open my eyes or yell out you can’t you are just stuck
Ответитьjust had a lid surgery...
I woke up and couldn't move my hands and feet ...
it was painfull as hell.....
and the worse thing is that I couldn't feel my nose so I was feeling like I am not breathing..
Yes, You most certainly can be paralyzed, while not being anesthetized enough to not be aware of what's happening to you!
I awoke at the end of the surgery, Thank God!
But, I was still paralyzed and in a Tremendous amount of Pain, Every Inch of my body Hurt!
The Only thing that worked was my lips, but I was intubated.
I heard the surgeon and nurse talking about my body, and the Nurse said she's only 45, and the surgeon said "yeah, 45 going on 80".
I had cancer, which led to a radical hysterectomy, then during chemo I contracted c-diff which ruined my stomach, colon, kidneys, they also removed my spleen.
So, I was never really sick, Until I got Cancer, and Now I stay sick at No fault of my own!
So to hear them talking about my body in front of me was disgusting, and humiliating!
But, I also couldn't move to let them know during their chit-chat about my body that I felt like I'd been run over by a Peterbuilt Truck!
Finally after what seemed an Eternity, another Female Nurse, that wasn't talking about me, spoke up and said
"She's Still Paralyzed".
I kept mouthing pain, pain, pain with my lips, but I don't believe they seen it.
I willed my body to move so they'd notice I was Awake, but it didn't work.
After the Female Nurse said she's still paralyzed, the Male nurse that was saying Fu€|<, Fu€|<, Fu*k over and Over Finally asked me, "Michelle are you in pain"?!
I couldn't respond to his question!
But, Hell Yeah I was In PAIN!!
I think my Vitals Spiked also, so they finally gave me more Pain meds, after that I woke up back in the ICU with my family around me, but they thought I was still sleeping and couldn't hear them.
It took 3 months to recover enough to walk and do daily activities on my own again.
I always feel so bad for ANYONE that had to endure the Hell of waking up paralyzed during surgery!
There's support groups for patients that were traumatized from waking up during surgery, or still paralyzed without enough pain killer !
So it Must Happen way, WAY Too Much!!
Can you tell by the monitors if someone awakes?
ОтветитьThat is terrifying how would they know if you can't speak!!!!
ОтветитьThis is whay scares me. If i was awake but paralyzed would there be any way of you guys noticing? Heart rate??
ОтветитьThis happened to me and it was horrendous.
ОтветитьMy nightmare
ОтветитьMy husband woke up during hip surgery, tried to sit up, and managed to pull back the curtain between his head and hip!
ОтветитьTechnically yes but the pain experience would send u to shock or worse heart attack and death considering the average surgery minimum 2 /3 hours u can try to act to avoid feeling painful cuts but like I said yes u can be awake don't recommend it to anyone good luck
ОтветитьI partly woke up in the middle of my thyroid surgery in 2002. I could hear them because the thing had caved below and they couldnt find it😂😂😂 of course they couldnt it had become arounf 11 cms lets say 4 inches? But I flinched my toe and the nurse saw it. I Could hear them shouting give her more!
ОтветитьThe thought of it terrifies me. Being woken up intubated was bad enough
ОтветитьMan I asked a sales and double asked and asked again that my anesthesiologist make
Sure that the gas was on to make
Sure I stayed asleep
She was cool as hell and
Did her job and I never woke up during but the thought of it happening was paralyzing ….I was paralyzed with fear ….
This is what makes us avoid surgery
ОтветитьDo you have to be awake for eye surgery or can you opt to be totally out..I'm afraid of being awake during eye surgery
ОтветитьTwice, 2, 5 years apart, 5 hour surgerys. I felt every slice, stitch, staple & was screaming in my head.😢
ОтветитьSoooo, can I choose to be awak during surgery tho? As long as its not invasive tho! That would be cool.
ОтветитьI've woken up towards the end of having my chest tube put in. "Don't put tape on her nipple" 😂 not exactly the first thing you want to hear but 🤷♀️ I found it funny.
ОтветитьThink rare is an understatement nowadays
ОтветитьYes, I experienced anesthesia awareness when I was 9, I'm now 49... so 40 years ago. I was having a tonsillectomy and heard the doctors and the instruments. I felt every bit of the surgery. Needless to say, this has caused me to have PTSD. Absolutely horrific.
ОтветитьIt happened to Ken. It was terrifying!
ОтветитьThat happened to me too during an emergency c-section. After the initial cut, I was unable to tell the surgeon that I felt that and was fully awake. I think with fear and pain, I passed out.
When surgery was over, I was furious and asked why was I cut before putting me to sleep. They said they couldn’t wait, the baby was in distress. The baby did not survive and years later, I was diagnosed with EDS.
I woke a little and I heard them say "She's popping pVC's, then I went back to sleep
ОтветитьI’m a Surgical ICU nurse, and oh yeah…it can happen. But there is a device a doctor can use on the temporal region of the brain searching for alert activity
ОтветитьReally wanna know what he is saying
ОтветитьDuring cateract and cornea surgery I was awake for some of it but paralyzed. I’ve talked to a lot of people and they said they don’t remember anything. Can’t forget it.
