Femke, I absolutely love all of your content. It is straight to the point, and I find it incredibly useful! I have an excellent manager and I feel I haven't taken advantage of that 100%. From now on, I will be using it for all of my 1-1 meetings. I have also decided to add a section to the meeting template called "Action Points". This will help me to follow up on the things discussed during the meeting and ensure that everything gets done.
ОтветитьFemke, you've definitely mastered your craft!
ОтветитьThank you for this and today’s videos, Femke. This one inspired me to manage up and today’s one to face a couple of truths…. Thanks a lot for putting your time and energy into the channel. All the best to you! 🙏💛☀️
ОтветитьThank you for such a helpful and profound suggestions! I have been watching your videos for the last 2 years and they influenced and boosted my career a lot!
Btw, having a video about goal setting would be super great and helpful. At my company which I joined recently we have a goal setting every quarter. I would like to know how to set up goals that would be both beneficial for me and the company.
Thanks for the video! I just scheduled a 1:1 with my manager because I feel stuck and alone, so this helped me a lot to have an structure for the meeting.
ОтветитьI truly liked your approach, but how I am gonna follow the same process while I am working in a design agency? Because there can be meeting on daily basis.
ОтветитьThis was an epic resource. Taking all of this on board into my new role! Also thanks for helping me look mega prepared haha!
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьThanks for this video, it is my 1st time in a big company having 1:1 and I didn't know what to do with this time with my manager... You just saved me!
ОтветитьThank you so much for talking about this topic! I will start doing the same as you recommended!
ОтветитьI really miss a good 1:1. So, this template you shared up gave me some guidance and initiative to request a 1:1.
Thanks, Femke. Regards from Brazil
I just decided to leave the company and one of the reason is my manager is too busy to talk to me!
Thank you for sharing. They are very valuable.
Btw I just got the new job opportunity because I learn from your Uber’s assignment a lot on how to make take-home assignment. Thanks again! I always appreciate your content and effort😊
Your channel has been invaluable in growing and advancing my career as a designer, thank you so much. Specifically waited a couple hrs before my next 1 on 1 to really absorb this info and act on it where appropriate.
ОтветитьTried your 1 on 1 meeting conversation with my manager, and that's really helpful and efficient! Thank you for sharing!
ОтветитьLove this! I’d love to see a version of this video with Product management. I’m pretty sure a lot can be carried over but it’d be cool to see the differences from your perspective too. Thanks Femke!
ОтветитьYou're always great Femke, but this one is extra great ^^ Thanks for making it for us
ОтветитьThanks a lot, Fem :)
ОтветитьReally love your videos Femke, originally from Ireland and have lived here in Toronto for 9 years..have managed to progress from graphic design into product design and most recently landed a role as Associate Director of Design (still feeling all the imposter syndrome etc etc) but your videos are so impressive and as a fellow immigrant it is that much more amazing - congratulations and I really hope to bump into you one day as design events start opening up again!!
ОтветитьThank you for presenting this topic. This validates what I’m already doing in my 1:1s with my manager but I need to up my game on documenting them. It would be cool in a future video if you can talk about your workspace setup and how to stay productive throughout the day
ОтветитьI just want to say a huge thank you for your content because of it I was able to transition from my legal career and become a product designer ✨hope more people are able to find your channel it’s such a treasure
ОтветитьOne very interesting point that you mentioned in the video is the Check-In part... I have question in regards to the "PERFECT" day to do the 1:1s... What day is set for your meeting? Monday, Wednesday, Friday?... As you mentioned that day shows how busy, stressful, happy, etc. you are. The emotions speaks and bring different topics to the table. So I guess the day is kinda crucial to the meeting... Does it start on busy Mondays or midweek half projects/problems solved or in the "chill" Fridays?
ОтветитьHi Femke. Great video! I had a question unrelated to this video. I am currently a junior designer and I just delivered my first project. I really wanted to ask for feedback about myself from the people whom I had worked with on this project. What's the best way to do so and what all can I ask? Any video you have made about this in the past?
ОтветитьThis is the video I needed today. My 1:1 with my design manager have been awful since they moved into the role ... Thanks for this valuable content and reminder that we need to own our own career!
Ответить👌 great advice! I've definitely squeezed an important topic in the last few minutes of a 1:1 😅
Ответитьwe have 1:1s but they are not organized or documented! i use your template as a base and will adjusted to my need and present it to my design lead! thank for bringing this topic up!
ОтветитьThanks Femkey, you're amazing!
ОтветитьFemke! I recently joined a new company, thanks to your videos, and having a 1:1 conversation with my manager has been nerve racking and now I’m gonna try your way — already feels better! In the future, would it be possible to make a video on how to have a compensation talk with your manager? Thank you so much! ☺️
ОтветитьThanks for the content, really helpful !!
