I love this video, this is exactly what I needed to see this week :)
ОтветитьYes! You are so right about making excuses. Guilty
Much love for saying what I need to hear ❤️
Love these tips! I haven't been able to sew for a while because I'm at school and dont have my machine with me but i could borrow one i just havent :( need to get on that
ОтветитьSuch good tips! ❤👍
ОтветитьGood practical advice to keep yourself sewing. Like the assembly line idea. Going to be making two simple blouses of the same pattern and will give that idea a try. Thanks for sharing. Happy Sewing!
ОтветитьWow this is amazing advice! Thanks so much for sharing this! 🤗
ОтветитьI have been sewing for a long time on a 25 year old singer machine and I thought i was being productive hahaha I just got a brand new singer machine and omg I whipped up a dress in an afternoon. Good tools are a must. This is the first video I watched of yours and I subscribed. You’re very personable I could listen to you read the phone book haha 😂 thanks
ОтветитьI think I'm a cake person with a little touch of frosting :)
ОтветитьInteresting tips. As a beginner sewer, I think I'm a cake person who hopes one day to be a frosting person. I don't necessarily select patterns that fit within my wardrobe but rather pick patterns that will enhance my sewing skills. As a result, I do end up with a lot of garments that may not fit my typical style but they have greatly improved my sewing expertise. Like you, I also have a large stash of fabric, as I buy whenever fabric goes on sale. However, since I am a beginner, I am not as familiar with the various types of fabric that I should be. I can easily identify a cotton fabric, but that's about it. Any tips on how to become more familiar with fabric types?
ОтветитьHi, I’m Elizabeth. Thank you for the videos you’ve made. I’m coming back from an 8 year hiatus from sewing due to a terminal illness. I’m still sick but I’m living longer than what I was told so I’m going to start sewing again. I would love for a video of tips or techniques to help us self taught sewists how to sew faster. Again, thank you for your time and making the videos you have.
ОтветитьMmm a 12-minute video to look at instead of sewing 😍
ОтветитьSomething that changed my sewing game is knowing my limits and setting realistic goals and challenges.
This obviously won't apply to everyone. But if you, like past me, take on massive challenges way outside of your skill level and try to get them done in ludicrously limited time frames only to end up overwhelmed and feeling shitty about yourself and your skills, learning to set realistic attainable goals might help.
In the past I used to dream big, not really think about the process, buy all of the supplies, start the project, hit a wall I had no idea how to overcome, get frustrated, put the piece down for a week, come back to it, see how much there was left to do, realize I had no idea how to get from point A to point Z, realize that I'll never get done in the extremely small time frame I'd set, fall into an anxious mess, and put the unfinished project in a box. This is a great demonstration of what not to do.
Since I've started setting realistic goals, I've been sewing more, I finish a piece or two a week, and [most importantly], I actually enjoy the entire process.
I don't know if this will help anyone but one thing I do before I leave my project (I get interrupted a lot) I think about for moment what I need to do next. It keeps me from thinking I'm lost as to where I'm at in the process. It's kinda like "how do you eat an elephant...one bite at a time "
ОтветитьExcellent advice!
ОтветитьIf it makes you feel better, I'm a writer and I hear the exact same thing, 'Oh I'd write a book if I had the time...'!
ОтветитьVery good advice that will save money, time and needless sewing.
ОтветитьIve got a new janome 740dc machine
ОтветитьIve got weekends
ОтветитьYou just gave me a resolution. No social media each day until I sew. Thanks!
