When i look at that map and me not being from North America my first guess is wtf happened to the rest of the world, like clearly the icecaps have melted but i get the sense that the rest of the world is left out of the map because they're normal countries and Panem is an authoritarian state that doesn't want its citisens to know there are other countries out there... Or the modern version of the plague killed everybody and for one reason or another North America was the sole successfull survivor of the apocalyplse and with all the sick dying, the nuclear reactors blowing up as there's no one to man them, social order breaking down, those who could manage would move to former North America, now Panem, the wealthy and influencial to the capitol, the middle calsses into the first 5 districts and the poor to the districts 6-13

I think district 3 might be unfavorable for careers is because despite the revolutionary technology developed and refined there, the complexity and value is technology is taken completely for granted by the citizens of the Capitol.
Snow and his goons obviously know well it's uses but for the people of the Capitol, renewable energy powering their 24K full window hologram TV screens and everything else is just natural, thereby making District 3 seem unremarkable or even pointless next to the jewels of 1, military prowess of 2, and high class foodstuffs (and beach bods) of 4

I really doubt that Fox Face didn't know those berries were poison, during their time in the tribute center she can be seen identifying a bunch of different plants very quickly. I know I wouldn't want to be apart of the final bloodbath, so it would seem the berries were a way for her to get out of the games without having to fight.

I hope we get the names of the other two tributes from the 50th games in SOTR

fox faces death always confused me. when we see her training before the games, she’s goin rapid fire with the botany practice station. She was incredibly knowledgeable in botanicals, to me it seems her eating the berries was a split-second decision made on adrenaline, or she purposely ate them and that i cannot explain. (also the girl who died to the trackerjackers was named Glimmer)

District 2 has the strongest bond with the Capitol.

I think that the “official” map of panem is kept purposely cartoonish. The more the capitol obfuscates the truth the stronger their rule over the districts.

Although not likely to be as successful as careers from 1, 2 & 4, I found it surprising that at least some of the communities would not train (on the DL obviously) and/or encourage a few volunteers in the older kids each year if only because then they could all take as many tessera as they needed as a community to be healthy. It would have taken the horror show of it all down to the lowest level possible - it's always been possible to convince some to sacrifice for the great good.

Why couldn’t 7 be a producer of career tributes also 🤔

One of the most unrealistic things about the 3rd quarter quell is that there would be enough tributes from all districts for that. There would only be 75 tributes max, and the first 10-20 were probably dead already. Districts 1,2 and 4 usually won, so how did all districts have at least 1 male and 1female tribute for the games? I haven't read the books, was that explained anywhere there?
