This was amazing. Life is just funny sometimes.
ОтветитьI’ve watched a LOT of these ancestry shows over the years and have done a good bit of my own research. Never have I seen an episode that has given me the feeling of nostalgia and awe this episode has. It’s as if both these men are reincarnates of their forefathers they are learning about. You can literally feel the hands that put them together on this journey. I know their 3x great grandfathers knew each other from an episode of “Who Do You Think You Are”. There is much more to their stories than given here. I wonder why they didn’t get more into the details 🤔🤔??
ОтветитьWho knows maybe your granddads were good friends like the two of you.
ОтветитьJust an amazing episode
ОтветитьIt's all very interesting particularly given the televised twist but honestly some of us want nothing to do with most of our immediate relatives so this could either end up being absolute torture or perhaps, just maybe a welcome surprise.....though for me odds are the former.....
Just sayin'
♥️🇨🇦
Not sure when this was filmed but the background looks so authentic Irish...no sign of invaders!
ОтветитьHugh Bonneville still handsome as ever. And when I'm watching this. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 I'm like why do I know that face it took me 2 minutes and the movie Notting Hill .
ОтветитьI love this, 4 doors down!
ОтветитьOnly 6 minutes in but I want to do a tour of that salt mine! What a cool looking place!
ОтветитьI too, have My Irish calling me, However , I am more German according to my Family tree and no Irish! I have not done the DNA and know we are Irish on my Maternal Grandmother's side with an Irish last Name !lol! My Sis did the DNA and we are Irish! Our Irish Family ended in Devon, England by the Name of Dunn!
Ответитьso...prince of whales switched out with buddy...giving himself an "alibi" for debauchery or hidden hobbies....hhhmmm....when was Jack the Ripper? and what royal was possibly implicated in that one?...and was a switch done back then too?
ОтветитьWhat a wonderful Show, great story and great cast of Characters. I can see the seeds of new stories and productions that highlight the connections within ourselves and our Ancestors and how they relate to the world today.
ОтветитьBrilliant episode.. No doubt their GGGGrandfathers(?) knew each other. Seems impossible that they wouldn't have.
ОтветитьMy very favorite episode so far. Thank you.
ОтветитьMy mind is blown! 😃 I can only imagine how these two feel. ❤🎉❤
ОтветитьFirst history show that brought me to tears. Fate brought these friends together.
ОтветитьThis was a brilliant episode. I was crying ugly tears at the end. Beautiful story and connections...
ОтветитьI'm a Canadian woman who had her ancestry done, and I'm 80% Irish - English French,German, and Dutch. I heard my mother's mom was Scottish, but I was surprised it I didn't say Scottish.
Ответить🌻💛 Beautiful history lesson.🤓
ОтветитьWhat an incredible episode! Thank you to all involved. Fabulous research to find those common ties. Hugh and John are wonderful together. Love them both and was thrilled to learn they are friends.
ОтветитьDownton Abbey meets Dr Who. Can't get any better than that.
ОтветитьLord Grantham was no stranger to comedic acting. Look it up. Very interesting.
ОтветитьHandsome Neanderthal..lol
ОтветитьI'm an O'NEILL that married an O'CONNELL I need to do a DNA test!
ОтветитьSuch a wonderful, True! story
Ответитьabsolutly the instument maker brought bread from the other. or chatted in the morning when they swept in front of the shops. if your a shop keeper you are going to know most of the others on your block
ОтветитьI an American have more English DNA than both of them put together 😂. I’m also 40% Irish. I thought I’d be mostly Scottish…DNA is a strange thing
ОтветитьHugh’s cuz looks like him.
ОтветитьLovely story! A strong sense of pride ❤
ОтветитьIts been said that we are all connected through our past lives. I think they have always been friends in this life and as John and Andrew. They just knew who each other were Andrew reconized his friend John in their descendants
ОтветитьHugh - Have you read Patrick O'Bryan's Aubrey-Maturin series - BRILLIANT and the Chatham Dockyard comes up a lot.
ОтветитьIt’s called drunk history
ОтветитьWow thanks for the tips!
Ответить❤
ОтветитьAnd then 300 years or so when there's another show like this about people looking up their ancestors, two people are going to find they're each related to one of these men and find this video I like to think
ОтветитьThis was wonderful to watch (all of these are). I especially appreciate that Hugh made a tv appearance without his usual "lippy," I believe y'all across the pond like to call it (call back to a Graham Norton appearance I saw a while back)! Courageous move, sir!!
ОтветитьMind blowing episode! 🎉
ОтветитьNOTHING is ever a coincidence. God is soooooo GOOD✝️❤️😊
ОтветитьTHOS SHOW IS FASCINATING!!! I cannot stop watching it! Love every episode (even the one on the sports dudes I didnt recognize)!!
Ответить"But her surname was *Peter*!" 😂 Really enjoying these!
ОтветитьFascinating
ОтветитьWhat I got out of this is I am more British than Hugh and I am from Texas. Ha!
ОтветитьFabulous story. Lovely men.
ОтветитьThe irony of...self help Africa in Dublin...
ОтветитьIs that your favorite wooly jumper, Hugh Bon?
ОтветитьFor some reason, I was drawn to watch this particular episode. I watched it all, and it wasn't until the last 10 minutes that I knew I was somehow connected to this story. I was a very young girl when I came across a very old picture in a book, it was of Daniel O'Connell. My mother said he was my 4th or 5th great-grandfather and that her grandmother was Catherine O'Connell. I've done some research and never was able to draw the entire line back because of a lack of names. My mother had O'Connell relatives in Pennsylvania and New York. Ironically, I came from poor beginnings and worked my way up and ended my dispatching career as the president of my union for the CA Highway Patrol Dispatchers Association. I got chills when they mentioned the march being led by Daniel O'Connell.!
ОтветитьHUGH'S DNA RESULTS SOUND A LOT LIKE MINE AND I'M AMERICAN! LOL
