Stan Walker won the Australian idol title in 2009. In 2017 he had his entire stomach removed due to stomach cancer, and after that had about 15 more operations as he struggled with complication after complication from the removal of his stomach. The fact that he can still sing with so much power from the diaphragm is nothing short of a medical miracle in my opinion. He really is an inspiration.

Would strongly recommend you react to Stan's cover of "Ultralight Beam" featuring The Levites.
Ava Du Vernay (director of the movie Origin which features clips in this music video) had seen Stan's cover of Ultralight Beam and was so impressed she wanted him to write a song for her movie. This song is the result. She has said in an interview that she didn't ask for any changes. What you see here is Stan's original version.

Stan is one very proud Māori boy from Aotearoa NZ, who is helping raise the profile and awareness of his people and culture.
